AIBU?

To ask if anyone has travelled with vaccine proof and passport in different names?

chocolatesaltyballs22 · 28/06/2021 13:20

Due to travel this weekend (green country) and entry requirements have just changed to require vaccine proof. My passport is still in my maiden name, whereas vaccine proof is in married name. Can't get through to tour operator to query. Has anyone been in this situation and were you just able to show your marriage cert to prove you were the same person?

Starting to feel like this holiday is not worth the stress. Sad

I would also like to know - I have reverse issue - Passport in married name, NHS records in maiden name. I was wondering if taking my marriage certificate (not ideal) would work.

Have been on hold to tour operator for 54 minutes. Have also emailed Spanish Embassy. Must be lots of people in this position.

Surely just take a copy of your marriage certificate ?

I plan to, but would hate to get to my destination and sent home because they don't accept it.

I realised this was going to happen to me as I’d never got round to changing my name with my GP. It was actually really easy to update- did it online, took a marriage certificate down to the surgery, and the app showed the right name a couple of days later.

Mine is the passport which isn't up to date though, slightly more difficult to sort within the next few days. When we booked the holiday after the island went on the green list this wasn't an entry requirement.

I would just take my marriage certificate and my drivers licence. You are legally allowed to use both your maiden and married name as you wish so use that to your advantage.

I am in the same position as @ml01omm and have had a stressful weekend waiting for the surgery to open. I sent them an online request to change it, then had to take my marriage certificate into the surgery this morning. Hoping it works in time...

Well I've been down to the surgery this evening and had them change my name back to match my passport. Just need to wait for NHS app to validate my identity now. Didn't have to do that before when I downloaded vaccine proof in my married name. Hope it doesn't take too long.

@chocolatesaltyballs22 I've just checked my covid pass on the NHS app and it has been updated. Phew! Fair play to the very nice receptionists at the surgery I spoke to today, they've sorted me out quickly. Thank you nice receptionists! Flowers

I’ve just travelled to Spain. Passport in maiden name and vaccine proof in maiden name.
When I used the correct names I couldn’t complete the documentation. In the end I completed the Spanish health form using my passport maiden name and took my marriage certificate with me. However no questions were asked and I sailed through passport control.
Ahead of travel I contacted Ryanair who made a note on my file.
A word of warming. My husband made the booking and they would only make a note on the filler if he contacted them!

Does anyone have any updates on this situation? Looking for some positive stories Confused

I thought my story was positive!!! I filled in the form using my maiden name (even though my health records are in my married name). You have to use the name on your passport otherwise it is rejected.
Take your marriage certificate with you in case of any issues.
Contact your airline and ask them to write a note on your file.
Safe travels 😀

@Londongayle1 your story gives me so much hope, thank you. I'm still feeling very anxious as I'm flying with Ryanair & they're notorious for being difficult Confused

@Londongayle1 just reread & saw that you also flew with Ryanair. I have my fingers crossed 🤞. I wouldn't mind so much if it was just me flying but I'm taking my children who will be devastated if we're denied boarding. I've filled out the passenger location form in name that matches passport. It's just the vaccine certificate that is in married name. Have also uploaded a copy of marriage certificate and Ryanair have also promised a note on my file 🤞🤞🤞

We went to Iceland last week, my husbands NHS app has his married name, like you his passport is in his old name, he took a copy of our marriage certificate and it was fine. He did make sure he completed all travel forms with the same name as his passport.

I've just realised this too...my passport is in my maiden name but health records my married name, I've just never changed/updated my passport as they charge you.

People wondering why they can’t get through to their GP surgery 😂

I’ve just realised I may have an issue too - I have always been known by my middle name (very common for my age group where I grew up) so my NHS account is in that name but obviously my passport etc has the first name first. I hope it won’t be an issue!

I had this!
So I changed my name at the Dr's surgery and explained why. Then I phoned the NHS number that you use to get the paper certificate. In 2 days it was changed.

@Jobseeker19 GP surgery are saying they cannot change the name back to maiden name. Refusing point blank. Insisting it has to be via deed poll even though I had my passport, birth certificate, marriage certificate....Shock
