To think neighbours having parties in their gardens should have some consideration for neighbours?

Couple next door but one are in their sixties and in the last few weeks have had "gatherings" in their garden that have gone on until at least 2am. The houses are semi detatched so gardens have shared fences and the houses also back onto other gardens. Before anyone leaps on me, I am all for people having fun but not at the expense of everyone around them. They back onto a house with young children and are direct neighbours to a family with a young child. Today, they started a really noisy party in their gardens at 2pm that appears to have about 30plus people present so despite the babble of noise, singing, shouting etc I thought "Fair enough, it's afternoon, no problem"... It's STILL going on 10 hours later. They are singing and laughing at the absolute tops of their voices, chanting football songs etc. I have had to shut my windows on a warm night and turn the TV up really loud to drown them out. My ds has shut his windows but they can still be heard up there despite that. Ds heard a young child crying no doubt disturbed by the noise. The absolute selfishness of it just gets to me so much. I just want them to give a little bit of thought especially to elderly neighbours /those with children /neighbours in general and maybe have the kindness and intelligence to quieten down now. Aibu?

Same here - music on full volume all bloody afternoon. We had friends round for a BBQ but had to eat inside. There a special place in hell for selfish shits who do this.

I feel your pain. That kind of noisy is ridiculous and upsetting.

You can report them but if your council is anything like ours nothing will be done.

If you know your neighbours maybe a few of you could complain to the neighbour now?

The utter selfishness of some people amazes me.

Assuming it’s the first time in close to two years I’m sure you can manage.

Lots of People are living hard at the moment as they feel they “lost” part of life during lockdowns.

Also impressed they’re 60 odd and still going 10 hours later! I’m half that age and a few hours is enough for me! 😂

Lot of noise at 6am. Get the people with the young kids to put Peppa Pig on a loop. Loudly…..

Yep my neighbours spend lockdown building a summer house that they have turned into a pub . It’s constant every Friday and Saturday

Once in a while is and not after 10/11pm is totally expected and acceptable, but this lot just sound like a bunch of selfish arseholes.

@Boomisshiss - there is so much of this garden bar/house thing at the moment. I could think of nothing worse acting as unpaid bar keep.

Me neighbours had a party I was prewarned and was hopeful that they would be a bit quieter around the 11 o'clock mark. I have a toddler and sleep on the back of our house. I dared to knock the door when the karaoke started at 10.30 pm to be met with a torrent of abuse. And was told the next day it was selfish to ask them to be a bit quieter. This is a school teacher too breaking the Covid rule by having more than 30 in the garden

My neighbours are the same, not just you. To be honest I'm sick of it. They were having parties during last year's lockdown too.

It depends how often these gatherings are if they were every weekend it's not really on but once every few weeks/months I would just let them enjoy themselves and put some headphones/ear plugs in.

You mention they are surrounded by households with kids....I think some under estimate just how loud and grating kids can be to those without, and yes that will be daytime noise but when it's EVERY day it can drive you nuts!

Do you think anyone is leaving and drink driving? Report to the police if you think so.

Report the late night noise to the council.

If it was rare (less than once per year) tbh I’d let it go even if went on all night. If it was occasional (less than once per month) I’d ignore provided it finished by 11 and wasn’t on school nights. Multiple gatherings over a few weeks going on til 2am - they’re taking this piss. Are you on good enough terms to speak to them tomorrow?

I'm so sorry many other people are experiencing this and worse @Maybe we've ALL lost a lot during the pandemic but why does that mean those of us who want to relax in out homes or gardens have to suffer at the hands of utterly selfish neighbours? Plus this isn't the first time in 2 years it's the third or fourth time in as many weeks but this is by far the worst night. There group of 30 people been literally screaming, shouting, singing and laughing since bloody 2pm!! I went in the kitchen 19 mins ago and despite the window now firmly shut I could hear them "singing" The dh is rude and entitled so wouldn't give a shit who he disturbed. People like this don't care, they must know how loud they are being. God knows how much worse it is for their direct neighbours. Do the police do anything?

The children in the surrounding houses are pretty quiet unless they are playing out in their gardens occasionally in the afternoons.

There is little I can do, just hope it stops soon tonight and they stop doing it. Rain and winter will put paid to it. There's no way we could approach them. I just keep hoping someone reports them. I just cannot believe it's been all day. I can't understand why they haven't all Passed out by now!

Mine are currently screaming. And I do literally mean screaming. Their kids are too. I was alarmed at first, honestly thought there had been an accident, but it's been half an hour and I can still hear them over the music they're now blasting.
I can't imagine what they're all so excited about.

There’s no way I would put up with that shit. I need my sleep. The odd party maybe once or twice a year fair enough but regularly? Fuck that. I’d be ringing 101.

New neighbours over the road in an expensive house (backs on to our ex council estate). I thought to myself when they moved in, “wait until those behind them start with the early hours parties!” (Yes I know I shouldn’t be judgey 😬) Last weekend it was the new neighbours that were partying every evening fri-sun, in their garden and until 2am. My youngest is autistic and it didn’t go down well. I think it was mainly their daughter who appears to be in her early 20’s. I was so relieved when I saw her wheeling a small suitcase to her mother’s car yesterday, and away for the weekend 😬🙈😆

I feel the same, just don’t understand how people can be so ignorant!

We had other neighbours today blasting music out so loud, I’m not against people enjoying this lovely weather, but why does the music have to be heard in the next town over?! 🤦🏻‍♀️

Ours built a party hut thing on our fence line. Obviously didn't want it near their house.
I've had to move the room ds stays in when he visits to the front of the house as he couldn't have his window open between the noise and the fires.

Yeah, it's like a weird over excitement all the screaming and whooping these people. They communicate it appears not by talking but shouting to each other. They want to scream, sing, shout and screw everyone else. This has been a new occurrence over the last month so hopefully it's not a permanent thing. Just plucking up the courage to see if it's abated by opening a window and turning down the TV I have had to turn up really high.

Are you within range if you get the hose out and water your garden enthusiastically?
