What are your weird personal rules?

I have a personal rule, and I don't know where it came from, but it's: No outside things can touch the inside of the bed.

For example, if I want to put a bag on the bed, I would put it on top of the duvet. Absolutely no way in hell could I put it on the bottom sheet, or if the duvet was rucked up or folded over on the inside of the duvet. It makes me on edge just thinking about it.

Please share your weird personal rules (lighthearted + no judgement here)!

I have that one too!

Mine is that nothing used to do the washing up must be used to wipe a surface. I always see (or did before lockdown!) people using the asking up sponge to wipe down the kitchen surfaces and I think it grim - but am clearly in the minority!

My variation on this rule is that washing up sponges and cloths must be changed every three days maximum, but usually every other day because they’re generally a bit minging.

I really dislike being given water - or any cold drink really - in a mug, not a glass. To the extent that I’ll literally have just enough to slake my thirst if really needed, and leave the rest.

I don’t know why it feels and tastes so wrong. I wondered if it were about being able to see the liquid, but hot chocolate in a mug is fine, and though I’m not a fan of opaque glasses, I have no problem with drink cans.

So it’s basically just as you say - weird personal rule!

I'm the same about drinking something cold from a mug - it's just wrong!

Jogging trousers may only be worn outside of the house for sport or travelling to/from a sporting activity. The only exception is on an aeroplane, longhaul, but not in the airport at either end.

I’m the same about the bed. We always fold the duvet back in the morning, but DP sometimes dumps his jacket and/or the contents of his pockets on the folded-back part when he comes in, and I HATE IT.

All my personal rules are absolutely normal and totally not weird at all. Obviously.

Other people's, on the other hand...

I haven't worn a matching pair of socks for 25 years. It's bad luck.

If I HAVE to wear a matching pair for an outfit, I'll wear an odd pair under them.

So, do you get changed in the airport or on the aeroplane?

That seems like a waste of good cabin bag space to me, space that could be better allotted to duty free Grin who am I kidding, as a parent it would be taken up with toys and entertainment for the kids.

Apparently, according to DH I have many. He is home since furlough and keeps breaking them.

Plates are stacked evenly in two piles of 6 , not any other combination. If you remove two you take one from each pile. If you remove one you take it from the right. If the right has one less than the left you take it from the left. The same in reverse for emptying dish washer.

Never sit on a table or work surface...Angela Scanlon I'm looking at you! I worked in a Nursery and everything touched by hands or bottoms were cleaned with Milton to within an inch of it's life. I still can't look at anyone sitting on a table without thinking of those days.

If the wine in a restaurant doesn’t come in a decent wine glass I’ll order something else instead. I can’t stand these trendy restaurants with their tumblers of wine.
