AIBU?

To think dark brown eyes aren’t common in white British people

Ds1 has dark brown eyes and due to his skin tone people just assume he’s white British rather than having a Middle Eastern father. My other children have a darker skin tone so people believe them. Aibu to think most people with dark brown eyes are usually from minority ethics background.

Sorry I didn’t realise how common it was but I definitely think people shouldn’t judge ethnicity solely by a persons skin tone.

Wouldn't say so op. I'm white British and I have dark brown eyes, so does my sister whilst our other sister has blue. My German son has dark brown eyes too whilst his siblings have blue. I don't think ethnicity is determined by eye colour as I have met BAME people with blue or green eyes, it's rarer but it happens.

Apparently a lot of Welsh people have Iberian DNA, so the dark hair and eyes combination is common there. DH has Welsh heritage and has very dark (nearly black) hair and dark brown eyes, as does DD.

I have dark brown eyes, my mum has dark brown eyes, hr siblings have dark brown eyes, my cousins have dark brown eyes... All distinctly Anglo-Saxon traced back to the 1700s.

Um, no? Brown eyes are very common as it's the dominant gene. All but one of my extended family have brown eyes, none have minority ethnic roots

We are a white family from an Irish background so very fair skinned. My mum, dad brothers and sisters all have brown eyes. I'm the odd one out with green eyes. I have always assumed white people with brown eyes was normal

My whole white family of a couple of dozen, with one exception, has brown eyes, though we have a black ancestor many generations back.

I have a sibling with dark brown eyes, white skin. Completely Anglo Saxon.

I have light/tawny brown eyes and my dad, grandparents had dark brown eyes. My dad also has olive skin which tans in a second. As far as we are aware our ancestry is very Anglo saxon, although we don't really know prior to c1900. Both my parents in law have dark brown eyes too. I think brown eyes are really common.

Most people have brown eyes don’t they? It’s the dominant gene.

When I was a kid people used to remark on my blue eyes as being unusual as brown eyes seemed to be more common then. More of my family definitely had brown eyes so perhaps I stood out more. I remember being a bit fed up that adults felt the need to constantly point it out!

Most of my DPs family (white Brit) have dark brown eyes, jet black hair. Only one of our 3 dc have inherited it though.
My nephew is half Asian and he has blue eyes and quite light skin so people don't often realise he is mixed race. If people aren't believing your DC when he tells them his ethnicity that is weird and wrong though.
