Unexpectedly disgusting food

Just been reading the unexpectedly amazing food thread, and thought I'd post about food that I thought would be nice but wasn't.

The slimming world beef stroganoff from Iceland- it looked lovely on the packet, and smelt quite nice while it was cooking- but it tasted awful, really watery with a weird aftertaste

Wensleydale with cranberry- again, it looked nice, but tasted like vomit

The cheese melts from McDonald's. They taste like vomit with the dip. I was so disappointed with my weekend treat!

Not food. Cadbury's chocolate. I used to love it but that was years ago. It tastes foul now.

Sorry but a slimming world beef stroganoff from Iceland was never going to be good!

@ItsFor couldn’t agree more! Cadbury’s tastes like dusty cardboard. Disgusting.

Raw oysters. Not unexpectedly disgusting, I suppose. I had a feeling they would feel like swallowing phlegm, I just really really wanted to like them. They always seemed like such a glamorous thing to have alongside chamlagnr. But no. They shouldn’t be a thing.

Don't know if it's unexpected but celery. When you consider that cucumber and other crudités are lovely, celery is just urgh.

*chamlagnr!?!? CHAMPAGNE.

Turkish Delight.

The disappointment was epic after watching Chronicles of Narnia.

Itsu Seaweed Thins Sea Salt are revolting. Bought them as a healthy snack but has to have a Haribo to take the taste away.

When I first went on holiday to the USA as a teenager in the 1990's I couldn't wait to try Hershey's chocolate that I'd seen on lots of American TV shows and films...

Anyway after the first bite I was sure it had gone off as the taste is so odd it can only be described as tasting like vomit! That's the nearest description to it... The chocolate hadn't gone off, it actually really does taste like that (to anyone who hasn't tried it yet btw).... I couldn't and still can't understand how my American relatives go wild for this taste and love that chocolate... I'm NOT exaggerating btw, it's truly yucky!

A beautiful-looking Victoria sandwich cake from an expensive farm shop - it tasted of nothing but margarine. I didn't learn my lesson and still keep buying cake that is nowhere near as nice as those I can bake myself.

Tesco finest mushroom risotto; not sure why but it’s just not good.
Also pizza express pizza from the supermarket is really not nice and over priced

Same! It's vile isn't it? I can't understand how anyone can enjoy eating it, it tastes just like vomit.

I second @CityCommuter, it's gotta be Hershey's.

And @supercee cheap Turkish delights are revolting, the better quality stuff is actually ok! (I'm not a flower-flavoured sweet person though so out of all the flavours this is the hardest for me to like, and even that is bearable)

Yes to the Seaweed Thins. I bought them for a snack when I was low carbing and immediately spat it out. So disappointed.

Most fruity teas. They smell like orchards and taste of perfumed disappointment.

@CityCommuter that's how I've always described Hershey's!! I was lured into the American dream and when my friends went to America I was SO excited to try them- instant regret and nearly puked! Awful!

That's how you pronounce champagne when you've had too much champagne Grin

Are we talking Fry's or the proper stuff in different flavours from Turkey?
