Is there something you want but just can’t bear to buy?

I’ve posted before about how I am a self confessed shopping addict. I’ve put myself on a semi ban, and I’m allowed to buy necessities for myself or replace makeup items that have ran out but I am not to buy things just because I want them. I have saved almost £1000 in a month, which is frightening! The big “f**k it” purchases (maybe £300) combined with impulsively buying makeup, a new top here and there, chocolate, extra luxuries in grocery shop REALLY mounted up. So last night (I had been drinking) I ALMOST fell into the trap and bought myself a very expensive pair of trainers. I didn’t give in and I still haven’t. The guilt of spoiling how well I’ve done and how much I’ve saved would stop me even enjoying them. I’ll just stick to admiring them from afar. Are there any items you lust after, and technically could afford, but just can’t justify buying?

I love those Bella Freud 1970 jumpers, but I absolutely couldn’t bring myself to spend that money on something every other woman has had on for years in my area.

I really want some Grenson boots, have the money but just can’t do it. I’m sure they’re lovely quality but I find it really hard to spend £300 on some shoes. And yet last month I bought some Slendertone shorts for the princely sum of £100 and have used them a grand total of once. I really don’t understand myself sometimes...

I hate buying luxury essentials. Things like trainers, small baby toys, candles, even new baking trays. I buy essentials like baby clothes and normal household stuff without even thinking about it. I drop thousands on luxuries like holidays and experiences without thinking about. But 60 quid for a decent stew pot that actually does the job right? God what a waste of money. Or 20 quid for a little bit of plastic my baby might play with for a few weeks?
I ask for all this stuff as gifts instead.

That’s lovely @bridgetreilly
If I win the lottery I’ll buy it for you (however, see my thread which says I am not doing the lottery anymore).

I have done the same as you and saved £1000 a month but I've been doing it for a year, my bank balance is very healthy looking.

I want a new pair of Mint Velvet trainers but I refuse to buy them because I have about 100 pairs of shoes and trainers.

Versace yellow diamonds perfume and more gel nail polishes. Total is small but I don't need anymore of either.

A MacBook Air. I’m struggling on with a crappy old Windows laptop for my business but really could do with a better laptop, but not making enough yet to justify it. I have the money but just feel too guilty to blow a grand on something I can just about manage without.

The baby and toddler art class in my area. I love art and I’m passionate about it but there’s no way I’m paying £90 for 5 classes- it’s just too much. I have plenty of art supplies at home so they can paint here effectively for free...

Raspberry hot chocolate from Whittards, I can't justify a week's electricity money on a drink!

Straight teeth. I could technically afford the system that does it but every time I think about it I think of my kids enjoying a holiday instead and think it's utterly selfish of me.

A new iPad (mine has split open and is sight,y bent, almost 9 years old) and a car stereo. The DS kicked the original one as a toddler in his car seat and broke it.

A Louis Vuitton neverfull mm bag! But at £1070..... I just don't think I could bring myself to buy it!

I bought myself a Gucci belt for £280 but that's ok cause I won the money on a horse racing thing I had going with a friend where we pooled together but that was technically free money to me. It's a different story when it comes to spending hard saved money lol!

I want some veja trainers, some air max trainers and a chloe handbag. I may be able to afford the first, the second as well no way and the third is a ridiculous pipe dream. Would also like to afford a holiday this year but that's not going to happen either. This gets better when you stop paying for nursery right?! That's our luxury!

I've been savings for ages to get my husband a Breitling for his 40th. I saved early in case anything went wrong along the way and I now have the money a year in advance, the temptation to spend it & worry about it later is strong!!!

I've wanted some GHDs for years and years and have never been able to warrant treating myself when my £30 straighteners I've had since I was a teenager still work.
