Cutting grass at 8:30 on Sunday morning?

As a one off, because we have a bouncy castle coming, we are cutting the grass at 8:30 on a Sunday morning. Next door have just shouted out of their window. 🙈
AIBU? It’s not something we have ever done before or plan to repeat. I kind of think one off things you suck it up a bit? Same as the odd occasion their dog is barking outside my bedroom window at 11pm.

Round here, 8:30 would be considered late! I've heard someone hammering something, a jetwash and a lawnmower already.

It's been pissing it down since bank holiday Monday so I think people are taking advantage of the break in the rain.

I'd not worry about it, especially because it's not what you do every single Sunday.

The problem is that you say it's a one off, but how does your neighbour know that? They may think you plan to mow every Sunday at 8:30. I think if it was totally necessary (and I don't think it is tbh) you should have ore-warned them. Sunday is my only chance for any kind of lay in so very precious to me

It's too early, you should have just left it long. That coupled with the fact that they're going to have to listen to the pump and screeching associated with the bouncy castle all day sounds like a pretty shitty Sunday for your neighbour.

I think 8:30 is on the edge tbh, a neighbour had a strimmer going at 8am a few Sundays back I thought that was too early. A week day is different as I’m up and rugged going to work or booting up as WFH. Sundays are a different matter.

That aside, 08:30am wouldn't bother me but I don't lie in.

Otherwise I’d say 9am for noise in the garden on Saturday, 10 on Sunday. They are entitled to a sleep in..

It wouldn't bother me because I'm always up by that time. I know it would bother other neighbours though! I wouldn't get the lawnmower out til at least 11 on a Sunday because my one neighbour doesn't open their curtains til midday.

Everyone’s lives are diff, I’m up at 6am with my eldest, if she’s at nursery I nap when my baby naps: doesn’t mean I kick off at noise at 10am because I’m napping. Equally some people work nights and wkends- 8.30am is not ridiculously early.

Given you posted on here about it at 8.31 it must have been slightly before 8.30... If a lie in was something that wasn't a distant memory to me I would probably be annoyed before 8.30, but not after.
