So there's this awful misery on the school run. She's a massive hypocrite - complains about people parking on curb near her house, whilst her car is overlapping the drop curb to her house. She makes comments to people with blue badges(!) Writes disparaging notes on white sticky labels and sticks them on the wing mirrors on the mirror-glass. Even the very 'PC' Head teacher said "she's a very difficult woman".

Stuck her address into google, comes up with her name, which then shows up letters she's written in to the times and guardian reader's sections...I was expecting her to be a raging prick and bigot, but she's not. She's listed on an 'Alternative new year's honours list' for her volunteer work. There's even a photo of her smiling! In person she's got a constant frown and mouth like a cat's bum 🙀

I'm confused - she seems such an absolute witch in person, repeatedly butting heads with parents just trying to pick up their kids.

Her online results have disarmed me. Seemingly a sheep in wolf's clothing, rather confusing.

Yabu - take her on, online persona means nothing, she's no saint
Yanbu - just ignore her, misery guts

Why would you need to "take her on"? Confused

Just mind your own business and leave her alone 🤷‍♀️

Have you ever actually spoken to her yourself?

Report
Griefmonster · 06/05/2021 19:15

I don't understand your dilemma. What are you going to "take her on" about? You have a narrow interaction with her in a very specific set of circumstances. There's more to her than that. End of. Surely.

You have met my neighbour surely. I think she is both ethically and philosophically sound and a bloody difficult woman who find life a difficult and irritating challenge. Laid back and agreeable she isn’t. Not cheerful either but after a few decades of knowing her I can at least see why she want actually buried under her begonias.

You googled her address?

Okay...

some odd stalking behaviour on your part - just leave her alone

So is she a parent or does she just live near the school?

Either way you don’t need to ‘take her on’, it’s nothing to do with you - not your fight.

Are you planning on rugby tackling her or something? Bit weird you’ve looked her up 😬

Report
saveforthat · 06/05/2021 19:20

If her drive is near the school she is probably sick of people blocking it. She is perfectly entitled to block her own drive. I can sympathise with this. I used to live near a school and some parents (and teachers) parked with no regard to safety or other people's inconvenience.

You looked her up... that's a bit alarming!

What on earth is the problem with her “overlapping the drop kerb to her house”? It’s her drive, she can park across it if she likes! You sound oddly over invested. Just don’t park like a knobhead and then presumably you’ll have nothing to do with her?

Who is the "misery guts", you or her?

I would lose my mind if someone stuck a label on the glass of the wing mirror on my car. I mean what. I walk to school and don't park across drives or on the pavement, but still. I mean in what world is that reasonable?

Report
Timper · 06/05/2021 19:24

I think she’s better off if you just leave her alone. I’m sure she doesn’t need a judgemental busybody like you in her life.

JMJTHEWEEDONKEY · 06/05/2021 19:27

Why did you Google her?? That's strange!

She will be fed up of the amount of parents acting entitled and parking like that right outside her house.

No wonder she covers her drive as no doubt she would end up blocked in if not. - she likely has in the past!

As for take her on what on earth are you on about?!!

You don't sound nuts at all.

Have you any idea what it's like having entitled twats parking in a way that makes it nearly impossible, or in many cases, completely impossible to get in and out of your own drive?

Report
AmyDudley · 06/05/2021 19:32

what are you going to do - run up to her and demand an arm wrestling match because she parks in front of her own drive ?
Are you normally phenomenally silly or have you gone lockdown loco ?

I think you are being ridiculous tbh - unless Ive missed something.

Report
SeasonFinale · 06/05/2021 19:40

Leave her alone.

Also I assume she blocks her own dropped kerb to prevent school run people from blocking her in which seems sensible to me.

Why does it bother you so much? Has she stickered your car when you have parked inconsiderately? If not I can't see why you would be so invested.

I'd probably lose my shit if I lived near a school.
