Do you think 'yeyyyy, amazing' if you come to clean after the guest(S) have left?

I always try my absolute best to leave accommodation spotless, so the cleaner / housekeeper gets a nice surprise and thinks well of me 😂😂😂

Am I wasting my time?

I always leave things as clean as possible too. I’d hate someone to be thinking ‘filthy pigs’ about us.
I worked in hotels as a receptionist in my late teens/early 20’s. The chambermaids were sometimes disgusted & Shock at the extra work they had to cleaning up after some people.

I’ve wondered the same. My husband has us all up and rushed to have breakfast so he can put the dishwasher on so it’s finished in time to unstack before we leave at 10. My argument is that with an AM checkout time they can’t realistically expect this. I’d stack and set it going and wipe down the tops etc. It’s a place we (Pre-covid) kept going back to so he thinks it gets us “a good reputation”!

I've wondered this as I do this too. I strip the bed too. Is that welcomed or not?

I love people like you!

Things favourite guests do:
*Strip beds (no need to fold, a pile is perfect!)
*Load dishwasher
*Remove rubbish
*Hoover - I don't expect guests to do this at all but 2 lots have so far this year. I still vacuum but it does make a difference

No need to:
*Unstack dishwasher (everything has to be washed so I'd just have to re-wash it)

We have a place we return to often, and it’s the owner that cleans it. She sends us an email every time saying how much she appreciates how spotless we left the cottage. She has told us about some atrocious messes people have left, and I used to work in hospitality so am familiar with it there too. I could never leave a mess behind, I have more respect for those cleaning than to do that to them. We don’t go through with bleach or anything like that, but it looks pretty much the way it did when we arrived (barring the used towels in the tub).

Ah, I'm so glad!!!

I like to imagine that we've made someone happy by being clean!

Ha ha I thought it was just me who was being overly anal. I always throw dirty towels in the bath, leaving clean folded ones elsewhere. Sometimes strip beds. I can't help it! Glad it's not just me 😊

I used to work in housekeeping in a large hotel chain and used to love people like you OP! It was by far the toughest job ive had, so walking into a room where the guests hadn't left too much of a mess was lovely!

I did work at a holiday park once. It was very much appreciated especially when it’s very hot. There is always someone who leaves a hideous mess so it’s nice to catch up.

I used to be an accommodation manager at a well known caravan holiday park. I can promise you that people fall on a full spectrum between "has anybody even stated here?" To "holy fucking hell, this is vomit inducing".

Sadly, the lower the class of caravan- the more likely it was to be disgusting. But the worst post let caravan I ever saw was one of the bottom rage. A bronze. The people and their kids had to be woken up as they were hung over and slept through the hand back time. I saw the warning signs when they opened the door. Vomit all over the bathroom floor. I then told the team to leave it until last. Went back two hours later and dinner plates were covered in ash and fag buts. Rubbish and seeping shitty nappies piled up next to the over flowing bin. Raw meat slime in the fridge. Vomit ash over the floors and piss in the beds. Took 6 people almost 40 minutes to clean a two bed caravan. For reference we were given 14 minutes for two people to clean a van as standard.

The worst thing I ever found was in a top of the range. Three weeks into the season, so a brand new platinum caravan. We went in and everything looked normal. Only the master bedroom has been slept in. It was pretty tidy apart from the wheely suitcase in the middle of the bed. Opened it up and it was jam packed filled with clearly well used (filthy) sex toys of all various types and sizes. Pulled the sheet back and the bid had clearly been very well used. We had to shampoo the mattress 😬

What's the best fridge-win you've ever had, @Aprilshowersandhail?

Oh I’m glad cleanliness is appreciated. DH and I always wash and put away crockery, wipe surfaces, empty bins, sweep or quick hoover, strip beds and put used towels in shower or bath so the owner can identify which have been used and it’s easier for them to pile into a washing machine.

We have a 100% rating on Airbnb and we want to keep it that way. Always have good feedback on how we’ve left the property. I could never leave a rental in a bad state, I’d be too ashamed and I’d hate for anyone to badmouth us.
