Walking alone in forests?

I was just wondering if most women are happy to walk through a Forest / big fields / nature reserves on their own for a dog walk? Or do you view this as dangerous?

Sorry it's probably not under right topic!

I do, and I don't even have a dog with me.

I do regularly, have done several times this week both with and without the puppy (she's too young for big walks), but I wouldn't after dark.

Nope but I feel like I’m being watched as soon as I step foot in a forest. I would not on my life go in one alone!

No problem at all. But I’m in the sticks.

I wouldn't walk on my own, with or without a dog. Unfortunately

I also go walking out on the fells for hours without seeing anyone as well as the mountains.

I do. Always did in 2 different countries with or without a dog. It's very peaceful.

I do quite regularly. It's not a busy place but you will see other walkers sporadically, it's fairly isolated so someone would have to make a real effort to get there in the first place if that makes sense.
I do turn on share my location on my phone just in case, more for peace of mind because thinking about it, its not much use in practice Blush

Yep I would/ do.

Yep, both with and without, usually tell other half where I’m headed off to, how long etc. Dog looks like a wolf so I feel we’re fine together 😆

Field yes but woods, tow path etc no.

Yes regularly walk / run alone in woods, fields, country parks - I probably wouldn't at night but I've never felt uncomfortable in daylight hours

Yes all the time, wouldn’t occur to me not to.

I don't like walking in woodland alone, I've tried it and I just feel spooked by it. Open fields, coastal paths are no problem. Statistically the risks of being attacked in any of those locations are low but my brain simply can't accept that about wooded areas. Arguably coastal walks are more dangerous because of the risk of falling over a cliff.

Very interesting! I do but I question myself when doing it - more so In forests than open spaces.

I wonder how much your area plays a part in your mindset?!

I was in the forest area this week and I'm fine seeing other dog walkers etc but saw a man on his own and became immediately suspicious, most likely completely irrationally but made me question my choice!

Yes, I walk alone everywhere: woods, fields, footpaths, countryside, cities. With or without dog. Daylight only, though.

I do twice a day in Epping Forest, where I meet many other women walking alone, with or without dogs. However, it would depend on the forest. I have been in a few with bad vibes around uk. Also, there are bits of my home forest next to built up areas (not near my suburb) that aren't so nice and I wouldn't feel happy in at some times of day.

I might if it were a "busy" walking route but generally no, I don't do that kind of walk alone.

Logically I know it's pretty safe and lots do it, but I feel vulnerable and don't relax.

I do. Without a dog. Most of the women I know round here go walking regularly through woods/fields on their own, usually with dogs (I'm a rare non dog owner round here!). I don't think twice about it.

Fields yes but forests and next to water or canals etc, no. I am a fast runner and will take my chances in a field with good views around me where I’d see anyone sneaking up on me. Forest where they have the element of surprise- no.
Always vary my route when I do run in fields too.

No I wouldn't.
