It looks to me like a grain of rice that didn’t grow properly and dried out. I would pick it out and not give it another thought.

Well it’s either a grain of something or it’s mouse poo. Hard to tell for sure from a photo.

Looks like unhusked rice to me.

Pest controller here......hard to tell from the picture but it could be mice droppings. I'd throw it away and any other unsealed food items. Make sure the rest are sealed.
Look for any other signs of droppings in cupboards and take kick boards off to look beneath kitchen units.

That looks like mouse poo to me.

I reckon mouse poo would crush, and unhusked rice would be really hard

I once found several stones, feathers, sticks and bits of plastic in a bag of rice. Apparently the harvesting method means tesco can't guarantee it will be free of foreign bodies. Hmm

It's unhusked rice as a pp suggested.

Just re read it sorry you said it was a sealed bag. I'd still take precautions and look around environmental as I advised but unlikely it is mice given the rice packet was sealed

If you find evidence of droppings I highly recommend you seek advice from pest control. What you can buy on line in terms of poison is like sweets to rodents. Only Pest controllers who are qualified can buy the really effective poison. If you have children we always put the poison in child and pet safe bait boxes. Traps you could buy yourself but again the ones you can buy as not as effective. If you choose to do this, mice love peanut butter.

Looks too small for mouse poop. When I had mice in a house the poops were bigger than a grain of rice, not much bigger but not that small

Try and chop it in half, if its poo it would probably crumble, insect should be crunchy, rice will be hard Grin

It could be a bit of grit or unhusked rice.
