Disgusting but need advice

Sorry this isn’t even an interesting disgusting. Bought a house all very neat, clean and in excellent condition. Except the toilets. They look like no 2s have stained the bottom of the loo. Cleaning with loo cleaner and a loo brush does help despite me wanting to get sick but not much and it just gets dirty again. Enamel must have come off and now it sticks and stains. Any advice?

It’s probably limes ale that has become stained. Put descaling loo cleaner down and leave all day then scrub. You need to put half a bottle down, to dissolve the lime scale.

Limescale stains empty the water and treat it

Have you tried the harpic tablets

Turn the water off at the toilet so it doesn’t refill. Scrub away apply liquids directly etc.
Worse comes to worse buy a new toilet.

Vinegar and bakong soda sorts anything (temporarily). In long term, if it's enamel issue, it will keep coming back. If it's lime scale, this will sort it.

Are you sure it's not limescale? If you're in a hard water area it can build up very quickly. I used to regularly clean ours but the limescale would quickly came back. Solved in the end by having a water softener installed.

Like a PP says, I would start with Harpic tablets and take it from there.

Black bottle harpic , we live in a hard water area and it's the only stuff that works! Give it a good scrub , then just keep on top using it every few days.

Black bottle harpic

This works - plenty of it, too - and leave it all day

I was coming on to say black bottle Harpic! Grin

Works quicker if you first remove as much of the water from the pan as you can.

Domestos zero limescale also in a black bottle is amazing.

Harpic tablets. And then, sorry it's grim, but I had to smash the last lot off the bottom of the bowl with the handle of an old loo brush. It had formed a layer, like the top of a creme brulée.

Just adding my voice to the chorus of "garlic"

Great stuff.

It's limescale OP, we've terribly hard water here and it's ruined taps, kettles, an iron, shower heads - empty the bowl and use some xxl harpic on it.

@PrudenceDictates scratch that - go with the garlic 😄

Yeah - if spirits of salts doesn't work then buy a new toilet.
