AIBU to tell you that I have received a hun text from a friend I see sporadically, inviting me to join a Facebook Live or Zoom to find out about her exciting and amazing new business venture? She's earning more than her full time job role, can work around the kids and is #living her best life. It's something to do with aloe vera.

It's an attempted MLM ambush isn't it? I've not replied yet.

Don't engage, the ones I know are like vultures once they latch.

Cheeserton Sun 28-Feb-21 21:26:23

Let's see, Aloe Vera...

Yup, MUST be the next big thing, massive profits surely. You can't fail.

Go for it.

Sorry I think the emojis went a bit wrong on my previous post! 🙈

MrsBrunch Sun 28-Feb-21 21:33:00

Haha are you going to reply?

gamerchick Sun 28-Feb-21 21:33:42

Tell her you're not interested. Nip this shit in the bud straight away. Be as harsh as your friendship will stand.

MuddleMoo Sun 28-Feb-21 21:34:41

Ooh I've got an aloe vera. Is it worth £££?

mnahmnah Sun 28-Feb-21 21:34:54

Say you’re allergic to aloe Vera

ThisIsMeOrIsIt Sun 28-Feb-21 21:36:42

Aloe vera... Must be Forever Living?

I hate seeing posts on social media by people saying "Want to work around your kids and still earn a full-time wage? Message me!" and you just know it's an MLM and I want to write on every single one - DON'T DO IT! They're so shady, never writing who they are selling for.

I'm an actual small business owner and it infuriates me!

JackieeWeaver Sun 28-Feb-21 21:37:27

@mnahmnah and don't forget to add 'hun' at the end grin

endlesswicker Sun 28-Feb-21 21:38:43

Tell her you know it's amazing, your mum/sister/cousin does it too. grin

CoffeeRunner Sun 28-Feb-21 21:39:22

Say you’re allergic to aloe Vera

Don’t do that!

She’ll have a product to cure the allergy.

mnahmnah Sun 28-Feb-21 21:39:34

Or just plain allergic to ‘hun’

Cheeseandlobster Sun 28-Feb-21 21:39:59

Forever Living. No no no. Dont even engage

mnahmnah Sun 28-Feb-21 21:40:39

Of course! blush

CheshireChat Sun 28-Feb-21 21:41:36

Actually just tell her you sense a MLM ambush and you're not interested grin.

MuddleMoo Sun 28-Feb-21 21:43:45

Actually just tell her you sense a MLM ambush and you're not interested grin.

I wish I could do this to my MLM spammer but I'm scared she will then ambush me in real life and tell me how unsupportive I am.

MrsBrunch Sun 28-Feb-21 21:43:57

Tell her you know it's amazing, your mum/sister/cousin does it too. grin

This is genius

itsgettingwierd Sun 28-Feb-21 21:44:49

I'd be running for the hills in my head whilst adding a bottle of something nice to my shopping list and pressing accept.

Not too much wine though as you don't actually want to get sucked in - just judge them for how sucked in they are blushgrin

baubled Sun 28-Feb-21 21:45:55

Beware of the body shop happy birthday messages directly to your fb messenger! I had a few last week, thankfully the first was from someone I've not spoken to in years (now deleted) and is prolific for MLM so I knew to ignore the rest of the huns.

FenceSplinters Sun 28-Feb-21 21:46:26

I had one from a relative. I unfriended before it became a regular thing.

Keratinsmooth Sun 28-Feb-21 21:48:18

Just say that you can’t attend as you are busy shaving your chest hair, repeat every time

the80sweregreat Sun 28-Feb-21 21:49:17

Relative's daughter was doing all this for a little while. I found out she had ' supply problems' during lockdown 1 and is now doing something else.
Obviously discovered it was hard work for little return I would imagine.
Not many end up earning millions sad
