Start using Mumsnet PremiumAibu to think that serving potatoes at all with salmon en croute is just unnecessary carbohydrates
(818 Posts)Further to the thread on boiled potatoes, from what I could glean not one person pointed out that you are serving carbohydrates with what should be already an ample portion of carbohydrates in the pastry. We have salmon en croute with extra green veg to fill everyone up. Is it just me or do people not get what a healthy portion (especially carbohydrates) actually is? Don't get me started on garlic bread being served with pasta.......🤬
You eat carbs?
Food issues at your place, huh?
It's nuts. Pizza and garlic bread, pizza and chips, pasta and chips, pie and chips.
Well yes it is two servings of carbs.
Perhaps they eat clear chicken broth and a boiled egg for their other meals.
What about garlic bread being served with lasagne AND chips?
Yum 😋
Ooh yay a competitive under-eating thread!
Oh bore off. You sound well joyless.
Don’t you ever have crisps with sandwiches? Yorkshire’s with roast potatoes
Quite agree OP, I only eat half a potato on Christmas Day and that's enough for the year.
TAAT
Surprise surprise people live differently to you, what a shock
Why can't people just eat what they like? I don't particularly care how many portions of carbs I eat - sometimes I have lasagne, garlic bread AND chips!!
Some people like carbs, what's your point?
I regularly have garlic bread with pasta, you'd have a conniption at some dinners round my house.
I also regularly have very low carb meals.
All things in moderation.
I actually can’t fathom being bothered by what other people put with what on their dinners, have toy been inside a lot during the pandemic? Is your world now very small?
When I have lasagne , I also have a baked potato, salad and garlic bread 😄
I wouldn't tend to eat garlic bread with pasta but would see nothing wrong with a couple of potatoes with salmon en croute. Just how inactive would you have to be for this to matter so much? I need carbohydrates too because I exercise a lot. It's the combination of eating too much and not moving enough that is the real cause of obesity, but please remember that some of us are very active and need carbohydrates!
Let me introduce you to my beloved maqluba😁
Rice and potatoes (as my inlaws make it)
Carbs for life✌️
CARB ALERT CARB ALERT CARB ALERT!!!!
Is double carbs even more of a no-no than double denim?
There is no such thing as 'unnecessarily carbohydrates'............those words shouldn't even exist.
@2021WillBeMyBitch
*What about garlic bread being served with lasagne AND chips?
Yum 😋*
We call that the Holy trinity up here!! Strangely I wouldn't do all 3 at home, but I'd definitely order that in a restaurant, with macaroni cheese too, yum!!
Most of my diet is carbs, and I often have double or even triple carbs at mealtimes. I am a very healthy weight.
Some people would have been shocked at the dinner DH served up last night - stew with dumplings, mash AND Yorkshire pudding! 🤯
Ok Op, we’ve noticed you.
But not in a good way
OP lockdown is a real pain, Iknow, but there's other ways to occupy your time than worrying about the diets of perfect strangers!
Better to ditch the high-fat pastry than the potatoes, surely?
Well done OP, virtue duly signalled. You are better than all the rest. Feel better for it?
