To think DH is being ridiculous to not eat this?

Mushroom pie with instructions on packet to cook from chilled and to defrost in the refrigerator. I'm running out of time so defrosted on counter. He found packet and is now moaning and refusing to eat it because it might give him food poisoning. AIBU to think he is being absurd?

He's being a twat

TheGoodEnoughWife Sun 17-Jan-21 15:03:56

I almost always defrost on the side. Can't remember the last time I was sick. I'd eat it no probs!

Anothermother3 Sun 17-Jan-21 15:05:18

Completely ridiculous. Unless you live somewhere ridiculously hot.

KirstenBlest Sun 17-Jan-21 15:06:23

Don't you cook your pies from scratch?

Same4Walls Sun 17-Jan-21 15:06:54

Unless there is a huge drip feed to say you are somewhere very very warm then of course he's being unreasonable. At this time of year my kitchen is probably just as cold if not colder than my fridge.

What a Wally 🙄

Oysterbabe Sun 17-Jan-21 15:08:10

Yeah he's being a fanny. He can starve then can't he.

pepsicolagirl Sun 17-Jan-21 15:09:25

I too would find and use any excuse not to have to eat a mushroom pie.

ChristmasJumpers Sun 17-Jan-21 15:10:49

@kirstenblest does it sound like they cook their pies from scratch? What a ridiculous question...

WrinklesShminkles Sun 17-Jan-21 15:11:04

I've defrosted on the side for years and never had a problem. This is the usual lowest common denominator advice aimed at clueless numpties who might otherwise try to defrost a pie by putting it on a radiator 🙄

KatherineJaneway Sun 17-Jan-21 15:12:23

He's being an arse. As long as it is properly cooked and hot all the way through, he'll be fine.

PhatPhanny Sun 17-Jan-21 15:12:43

He just doesn't want it, and trying to find an excuse.

iklboo Sun 17-Jan-21 15:12:48

* Don't you cook your pies from scratch?*

I hope you're being tongue in cheek.

FelicityPike Sun 17-Jan-21 15:13:08

He’s an idiot and I wouldn’t be cooking him
anything else.

ApolloandDaphne Sun 17-Jan-21 15:13:27

I once tried to defrost something in the fridge and it was still frozen when I wanted to cook it. I now defrost everything on the side. If it defrosts quickly I put it in the fridge until I need it.

HappyFlamingo Sun 17-Jan-21 15:13:57

Yes he's being ridiculous

DramaAlpaca Sun 17-Jan-21 15:14:08

Of course he's being ridiculous.

Or is he making excuses because he doesn't like mushroom pie? wink

Rainb0wDrops Sun 17-Jan-21 15:14:13

I always defrost things on the side. Even in the middle of summer I'll defrost for a couple of hours on the worktop and then move to the fridge.
Still here!

Summersun2020 Sun 17-Jan-21 15:14:57

Yes, they home bake them, freeze them, wrap them in packaging on which they’re written their own storage and cooking instructions THEN they eat it.

Summersun2020 Sun 17-Jan-21 15:15:24

Same! Enjoy OP. More for you!

TammyHullfigure Sun 17-Jan-21 15:16:23

He can cook something else for himself then.

Wiredforsound Sun 17-Jan-21 15:16:53

Look on the bright side. More pie for you!
