(324 Posts)Mushroom pie with instructions on packet to cook from chilled and to defrost in the refrigerator. I'm running out of time so defrosted on counter. He found packet and is now moaning and refusing to eat it because it might give him food poisoning. AIBU to think he is being absurd?
Agreed
He's being a twat
I almost always defrost on the side. Can't remember the last time I was sick. I'd eat it no probs!
Completely ridiculous. Unless you live somewhere ridiculously hot.
Don't you cook your pies from scratch?
Unless there is a huge drip feed to say you are somewhere very very warm then of course he's being unreasonable. At this time of year my kitchen is probably just as cold if not colder than my fridge.
What a Wally 🙄
Yeah he's being a fanny. He can starve then can't he.
I too would find and use any excuse not to have to eat a mushroom pie.
@kirstenblest does it sound like they cook their pies from scratch? What a ridiculous question...
I've defrosted on the side for years and never had a problem. This is the usual lowest common denominator advice aimed at clueless numpties who might otherwise try to defrost a pie by putting it on a radiator 🙄
Delicious.
He's being an arse. As long as it is properly cooked and hot all the way through, he'll be fine.
He just doesn't want it, and trying to find an excuse.
* Don't you cook your pies from scratch?*
I hope you're being tongue in cheek.
He’s an idiot and I wouldn’t be cooking him
anything else.
I once tried to defrost something in the fridge and it was still frozen when I wanted to cook it. I now defrost everything on the side. If it defrosts quickly I put it in the fridge until I need it.
Yes he's being ridiculous
Of course he's being ridiculous.
Or is he making excuses because he doesn't like mushroom pie?
I always defrost things on the side. Even in the middle of summer I'll defrost for a couple of hours on the worktop and then move to the fridge.
Still here!
Yes, they home bake them, freeze them, wrap them in packaging on which they’re written their own storage and cooking instructions THEN they eat it.
Nob.
Same! Enjoy OP. More for you!
He can cook something else for himself then.
Look on the bright side. More pie for you!
