(90 Posts)Sorry, posting here for traffic
I've had a rash which has gotten better and then worse over the last couple of months. It's on my ribs and across my breasts.
Well now it's come up on the back of my neck and where the waist band of where knickers would be on my lower abdomen.
I genuinely want to rip off my skin, it looks a bit like hives but then there's also a couple of parts that look almost like bites, but no one else has been bitten and there's no fleas in the house.
The GP had a quick look when I was in for something else and said to try steroid cream, which I have, but it's not helped at all. I'll try anything at this stage, please help!
Have you tried antihistamines? Might be an allergy.
Otherwise its back to the GP.i am sure there are other creams they can prescribe.
No I haven't, I didn't think of that, thank you! Off to fish out the piriton.
I agree, just trying to avoid going if I can, fingers crossed that works!

Is it on one side only? Blisters? Shingles?
Covid rash is a thing.
Is it more itchy at night?
@DobbinsBobbins yes! It looks similar to that but in smaller patches. Oh god, I hope it doesn't spread further.
I'll give the GP a ring anyway then and try the advice on the NHS site. Thank you
@Lozzie51 not shingles, I've had that before, horrid!
@quitecontrary123 I had a test around the time it started and it was negative, could still be possible I suppose
@WetSausageRoll yes! Definitely worse at night, it wakes me up (after taking ages to fall asleep)
Allergy or heat rash?
Scabies
100% cotton bed linen is what I diagnose that you need.
It could be scabies. The intensly itchy rash gradually spreads and is worse at night.
Have you changed any of your washing products? Washing detergents or shampoo / body wash?
Sometimes get contact dermatitis if I use a product I'm sensitive to, which is super itchy and raised bumps! And then peels... Currently got awful hands from the alcohol rub in shops...
Sounds like an allergy to me, it can honestly be anything from a food to washing detergent or shower gel. If you’ve started using a new one or new moisturiser etc then stop. Try E45 wash and cream and Piriton.
Do you get it when you put pressure/heat on your skin? Eg if you leaned against a wall for a while, would it come up in welts?
Discord eczema?
I had this and cried with the itchiness and pain. It was completely unbearable, especially at night
My daughter has a rash similar to the one in the link, she was given steroid cream and a moisturiser but to be honest it did nothing. It has started to clear up on its own though, although it took about 4 weeks for this to start. The link I saw said it could take up to 3 months so I’m hoping it just keeps clearing on its own. Any creams we tried didn’t help and just seemed to create a barrier and then she’d get little sweat rashes.
Oh god, scabies? How does one acquire that!
No change if I lean on anything or apply heat.
I have changed fabric softener but I've used this one before with no issues. I only use unscented "sensitive" body wash etc anyway, and always the same brand.
@bendybeep I've not heard of that, I'll look into it thank you. It's sore but I think that's where I've scratched it, but I could also cry with the itchiness, it's driving me potty
@Georgieporgie29 nothing seems to have helped mine either, it seems to be spreading rather than getting better though, but it's spending to random places it that makes sense, it's not joined up, like 3 separate areas!
Ok so just looked up scabies, it's nothing like that thankfully
I'm thinking it's the first link. I have a darker patch of skin where some of the rash has gone, it fits all the descriptions. I think it's probably worse at night as I'm more aware of it. Also worse if I wear a bra, I think where it's rubbing.
