Coffee when I wake up.

I would like coffee when I wake up. And I'm lazy. So I've moved the spare kettle to my bedside so I can make my coffee first thing without getting out of bed (I drink it black).

My husband thinks this is ridiculous, the kettle is ugly, and it's all very unnecessary. My usually easy going husband seems to feel quite strongly about this.

He has offered:

1. Buy a teasmade - I don't see the point it doesn't do much more than the kettle and isn't exactly a design statement.
2. He'll make a cup of coffee anytime I want one - it's not exactly relaxing demanding a hot drink whilst he trips off like my manservant. I'll just feel like a bitch and end up going downstairs.
3. Buy an expensive coffee gizmo thing - it's expensive. It's for a coffee a couple of mornings a week. We have a proper bean to cup machine downstairs which I can use when I can be bothered to haul meself (probably after I've enjoyed a cup of instant from my kettle set up).

Aibu to set up a kettle, and possibly small hostess tray for 1 beside my bed?

I vote option 2. My boyfriend makes me coffee every morning (except a few times a month when I treat him). We love it, he loves to care for me and I love my coffee in bed

The coffee bags are quite drinkable, not amazing but they'll do to give me the kick up the arse to get out of bed.

Get downstairs and make a real coffee. Have your blood test for vitamin and iron deficiencies. There must be a reason why a walk to the kitchen is too exhausting for you.

Travel kettles annoy me - they're usually white plastic (mine is a nice kettle it's our old kitchen one) and the lead is attached making pouring irritating. But I like that you're supportive of the bedside kettle!

I definitely won't ask him to make me a drink. I'm often up an hour before him. It just seems mean to make him get up and he might become grumpy about making the brews on an evening

DH brings me coffee every morning. I don’t care about being a bitch with a man slave

But you can get a Dolce Gusto coffee pod machine for £30 that would look slightly less bedsit/youth hostel if it offends your husband less

DH gets me a coffee every morning as soon as I wake up, I do loads for him but that's my favourite job of his.

Just let your DH do it if he wants to.

The downstairs machine is a heavy (and expensive) bean to cup. I can envisage a horrible tripping accident. I I love it way too much for the risk. Plus it'd be a faff. And this is all about avoiding effort!

It does seem bizarre to me. Kettle, mug, teaspoon, jar of coffee on bedside table.

I’d either go with option 2 or just be like a normal person who can cope with a staircase in the mornings.

The kettle is already in situ. Looks happy. Think he was worried he was going to have to live in a dusty corner of the garage forever. There's still room for books, earring, assorted crap. And a cup!

Make your coffee before you sleep and put it in a thermos next to you.
