(120 Posts)Tina Green received millions from Arcadia, as did Philip Green. Now the company has gone down, with a big hole in the pension pot. How do they live with themselves?
Some people don’t seem to have a problem with this. Sunning himself on his yacht in Monaco apparently.
It should be raising questions though, how there was a huge hole in BHS pension pot and now a hole in this pension pot.
I was thinking the same. I would love to hear the thoughts of the person that has voted YABU.
Very easily I'd imagine. People are incredibly possible of enacting enormous acts of greed, deception, fraud and all manner of evils yet manage to sleep comfortably well. The systems that allowed him to do this should be questioned - not that he has taken advantage of them iyswim.
I'm sure laying by their pool or a trip round Monaco marina soothes their guilt.....
There's a whole swathe of people who give no shits about other people and are ruled by the Money God. It's a vile personality trait.
The person who voted YABU must be Phil/Tina. Fess up!
Because they don't care about anyone but themselves. There are quite a lot of people like this but on a much smaller scale and they don't make it so obvious.
What I don’t get is why these people are allowed to get away with things like this?
Something needs to change.

No-one forced him. He has personal responsibility.

Because twats keep voting Tory HTH
They don't care.
They see it as they played by the rules so it's not fault that the rules make the rich richer and the poor poorer.
They likely think that those who will lose out could have themselves been billionaires with off-shore tax-efficient wheezes if they just would try harder.
Everything that goes right is completely down to their talent and hard work.
Everything that goes wrong is just one of those things and can't be helped.
Dynamokev , He paid his wife £1.2 billion under a labour government. Figure that!

That was a Tory-lite version of Labour. Other parties are available.
@DynamoKev various parties have been in power or coalition its about the man having personal morals
Because they exist in an affluent bubble. Their world is so far beyond the realms of the every day folk they wouldn’t have the first clue what a normal lifestyle looks like. Imagine the queen trying to fathom shopping at Lidl followed by the school run in a Fiat500. She’d be floundering around trying to find the right hat and gloves for two hours.

I agree he didn't have to avail himself of every opportunity.
He has personal responsibility.
But the poster I was replying to asked why this sort of thing was legal and I offered the opinion that Tory (and Tory-lite_ governments that we continually elect because of our steady drift to the right since 1979 is why it's not illegal.
Oh ffs, it has more thing to do with either political party. However, maybe they could make changes and revise The Companies Act. There are many things that could be changed including company owners and directors forming new companies when one goes bust, slightly changing company names to mislead the public. Also when individuals petition for bankruptcy - things should change so that people have to pay debts no matter how long it takes.
I’m sure that sipping expensive champagne whilst cruising on his luxury yacht will take the sting out of it for him.
They’re selfish. They think because they can get away with it they’re ok. Our laws allow them to crack on exploiting others for their own gain.
Caitlin Moran wrote a column fairly recently about how those who are super rich may well be 'missing' a part of them, emotionally or psychologically which allows them to accumulate huge personal wealth and for it not to even occur to them to do anything different to share this or ease the plight of others (I have paraphrased what was a much better article than my summary suggests!). The more I see of how the super wealthy live, the more inclined I am to agree.
Psychopaths innit
I agree that something legally has to change. But I'm still, perhaps naively, shocked that people who do this can live with themselves. How much money does anyone need, after all?
Greed
Retail's gone to hell. For years Green's empire provided jobs and careers - it's not his fault personally his industry is crumbling. And aren't we all meant to be buying ethically now anyway?
I'm no fan btw - I've spoken to him twice and both times he was horribly rude, much as he is to everyone.
But turning him into this bogeyman pinup for obscene wealth - when most of the ones you ought to worry about are the ones who keep themselves under the radar - is tiresome. He is but one of many.
