AIBU?

Does anyone else find adults on the swings ridiculous?

Can't really explain why but I find parents who go on the swings at the park so annoying. Just been to the park with my child and the swings are six swings on a wooden frame all facing each other like in a circle.
Extremely annoying dad on the swings going as high as possibly can and nearly kicking all the other kids feet every time he goes into the circle. Like why would anyone feel the need to do that. Especially when other kids have to wait a turn. Don't mind being told I'm miserable but I just find it ridiculous grown man acting like that, that is all.

Nothing wrong with a good swing, simple pleasures !

YABU and a bit of a fun sponge. I love going on a swing sometimes although I wouldn't go on one when there are kids waiting. However, if I was in a park and there were empty swings I would have a go, takes me back to being a kid, nothing ridiculous about that at all. Maybe give it a go yourself, bring out your inner child :)

I love going on the swings, and I will go on them if I’m at a park with my dc

Now obviously, if a child is waiting to go on them, I will get off but if not, I’m happy to swing away

I don't think that's very fair if other children are waiting!

Although I am quite partial to a good swing when its not busy though

It's fun! Being a grown up can be really dull, so why not have a swing. It's joyous. I also bounce on the kids trampoline too.

Although that Dad sounds like a twat if there were kids waiting for a turn. I'll have a go if the park is empty.

Gosh, a grown man having FUN?! The horror. I do hope you called the Fun-Police to come and take him back home to his pipe and slippers.

I'm 47 and love to swing. I'll jump on at the park when there's an available swing and no children waiting for one. It's fun!

Hes obviously play deprived Grin but yes it would piss me off in a busy park. I also hate you been framed type videos of adults on outdoor toys as they break them with their large arses.

I love a swing.

It's not fair if children are waiting and it's totally out of order to risk kicking a kid in the face!
But adults using a swing (or a slide or any other playground stuff) is fine. Everyone needs to have some fun. Even adults.

I love going on the swings! I would love it if playparks for adults existed - not those boring outdoor gym ones, but ones to have FUN in. Most of us are sorely lacking a sense of fun in our lives...

That said, I only go on the swings if we're the only family in the playpark. Don't want to hog them.

I also find parents that go in soft play really annoying too, down slides and tunnels etc. No need imo

I only go if the playground is quiet.

That Dad sounds like a right attention seeking tool !

It’s the same irritation as I used to feel when there were more adults than children in the bloody soft play. I understand needing to supervise little ones but otherwise get the hell out of there, you’re knocking other kids flying!

I had to do that because as much as DS loved going his physical disabilities made it harder so he needed support. Not that you could tell to look at him.

I also go on the swings sometimes but only if no other children are waiting

Adults enjoying using a swing - YABU.

Adult stopping children using public playground swings, and being potentially dangerous (was he, or are you just annoyed?) - YANBU.

Our park swings are under 14's only.

YABU. It's loads of fun. But not if there are children waiting, obviously.

A swing can be fun but he sounds like a right twat showing off and kicking people.

I love a go on a swing , seesaw etc when there are no children around . Also love the fairground horses - last time I was in Paris they had a great one with an Emu - mine . Don’t punch them from kids though .

being on the swings, in of itself, who cares? Have fun, life is too short.

making little kids wait so an adult can play on them... not great.
