To think this women was being ridiculous

I was walking my dog earlier and he stopped on the pavement to do a week against a lamp-post, standard dog behaviour.

A woman went past and made a passive aggressive comment about how it was disgusting that i'd let him wee there and that it was really unhygienic because we were outside a supermarket and 'near to food'.

This is ridiculous because in order to actually get into the supermarket and be near to the food, you'd have to go through the 2 sets of automatic doors!

I just gave her a look and walked on because I couldn't be arsed with an argument, but she was being ridiculous wasn't she?

Most exciting AIBU of the year award nominee

Feelingconfused2020 Thu 29-Oct-20 23:51:34

Sufferingjaysus do we have to be exciting in aibu now? I don't think many people got the memo.

Op yanbu although I dislike dogs and find the weeing on lampposts thing gross I get that it's what they do and not your fault.

Jericoo Thu 29-Oct-20 23:53:00

She WBU. Lol at the comment above

LolaSkoda Thu 29-Oct-20 23:56:35

I think it’s gross. If a human was pissing up a lamppost it would be unacceptable and they would be fined.

Yet a fluffy creature under control of a human can piss where it wants.

Maybe the woman has one of the many little kids who like to grab onto lampposts and swing round them?

nicerbeing Thu 29-Oct-20 23:57:02

The idea of dogs pissing everywhere is really vile when you consider it.

LolaSkoda Thu 29-Oct-20 23:57:32

But the comment about the food shop was her reaching. So you’re not BU on that point.

KurriKawari Thu 29-Oct-20 23:59:01

Is pissing in public gross? Yes.
Is pissing right outside a shop gross? Yes.

alibongo5 Thu 29-Oct-20 23:59:08

I am genuinely puzzled by the 25% (as it is at the moment) who think you are being unreasonable?

AIMD Thu 29-Oct-20 23:59:54

I mean I don’t think she’s ridiculous to find a dog weeing on the street gross, but seems pointless to mention it to anyone seeing as its generally accepted.

It could be worse OP, my 5 year old boy did a wee up the side of my car in Tesco the other day (he was absolutely busting, Tesco loos were closed) and I thought no one could see...but a lady walked past and shouted out 'disgusting' at us 🤣🤣 some people just love to moan and usually don't have pets (or children!)

Where would you like dogs to piss then? Should I be carrying a potty around for it to use?

I don’t let my dog pee on pavements

Realistically it makes no difference, though. Even if a dog isn't pissing against it you could have people throwing up there or sneezing or coughing onto it, and rats, mice, birds and foxes peeing and defecating on it. If you choose to let your children grab lampposts that's the risk you accept.

Givemeabreak88 Fri 30-Oct-20 00:01:34

Yeh I think it’s a bit nasty tbh but then I hate dogs so maybe that’s why...

AIMD Fri 30-Oct-20 00:02:30

I might start a AIBU about being angry about cats shitting in my garden.

ImAGummyBear Fri 30-Oct-20 00:09:47

We were at the park the other day and my kids were using a scooter and a bag - which had some fruits, water bottle etc - for goalposts and this little dog runs up and pees straight on the bag! The owner apologised... there was nothing to do except walk with a dripping bag n chuck it in the nearest bin. It is annoying sometimes.

Mummyoflittledragon Fri 30-Oct-20 00:10:00

I don’t let my dog pee on the pavement. Like a lot of things, which used to be acceptable, this no longer is.

Shortfeet Fri 30-Oct-20 00:11:13

I hate seeing dogs pee on the pavement. It’s pretty gross .

D4rwin Fri 30-Oct-20 00:13:26

Want to keep an animal then make sure you have the private land needed to adequately care for it. Is that what you mean?

Trizzlenbizzle Fri 30-Oct-20 00:16:07

All of you who don't let your dog wee on the pavement, genuine question, where do you let them pee? My dog refuses to wee in the garden at home.

BadDucks Fri 30-Oct-20 00:24:25

Garden or grassy verges on the way to the field. If we are on a pavement I just keep walking briskly until we get to a grassy area that’s suitable. Guess it depends where you live but i find there’s plenty of suitable spots on our walk that don’t involve peeing on the pavement.

SaltandPepperIt Fri 30-Oct-20 00:24:38

* My dog refuses to wee in the garden at home*

I didnt think dog's made decisions like that. Genuinely, thought she just wee'd wherever
