Beauticians can't have found lockdown that hard

Because they won't let me book an appointment?

It's taken me almost 2 weeks to book in for a very simple 30 min treatment. And that's not waiting for my appointment, it's simply to get someone to confirm I can have one.

Contacted 5 different places, tried the phone (no one picks up), Facebook, Instagram and email. Online booking systems were broken, showed no appointments (when there were) or when I finally made one booking was never received by the salon.

I get that there's reduced appointments and high demand, but it really shouldn't be that hard surely.

That's an odd conclusion to draw. Maybe they found it so hard that many of them are not in business now?

Be glad you know so little about how lockdown has crippled small businesses.

All the 5 I contacted were open for business.

Couldn't have found it that hard, really??

Did you ask all 5 why you could t have an appointment?

Allowing customers to purchase is a pretty basic requirement for any successful business, no?

They’re jam packed with people catching up with treatments they haven’t been able to have

floofycroissant · 27/10/2020 22:48

@nicerbeing I didn't speak with all but they all had active social presence, or the phones were clearly business lines.

What a nasty post, any idea what it's like to run a business, big or small? No, thought not.

Not able to work for 5 months. No income.

5 months worth of customers to fit in all at once.

Having to spend extra time between clients to deep clean everything.

Nope. Not hard at all.

What a stupid thing to say. My friend has lost her high street salon due to Covid

Exactly! And also fewer customers at a time to allow for social distancing.

What an odd thing for OP to claim. "I can't get an appointment, therefore beauticians didn't suffer in lockdown". How are the two things correlated?

You 'contacted' 5 but you didn't actually speak to 5?

Maybe they are prioritising the regulars first?

Actually YANBU, we rent a shop out to a beautician. She didnt earn alot before and was behind on her rent because she was hardly ever at work. But after she got a 10k grant, which she didn't use to pay her rent, she's barely seen the place. Some people are eager to get back to work and have been working insane hours to get as many clients in as possible. But other people have enjoyed the paid time off, and dont want to start working again, some staff included!

I imagine they're a tad busy trying to fit all their regular clients in & working as many hours as they can to feed their kids,

What an unnecessary, bitchy thread starter.

Fair enough I am in the wrong. I earned that biscuit.

How can you support indie business if you can't contact them? My correlation @alibongo5 was that maybe they don't need the business.

I'm not accusing anyone of slacking @Nottherealslimshady, or that they're not very busy. But not being able to book at all - even for months ahead is crazy.

@nicerbeing for example one never picked up the phone and their booking system wouldn't work, so I messaged on Instagram, they asked me for availability, I gave it, no reply... I nudged, they asked availability, I gave it and nothing again. So I gave up.

Maybe it's because they're busy fitting their regular clients in at all hours considering the extra time they have to slot inbetween appointments now 🤷‍♀️
I've had no trouble getting in with my beautician, but then again I'm a regular so I would imagine that's who they would prioritise.

YABVU, and beauticians will be badly hit when job losses really kick in and few people can afford to have such luxuries.

Your post just shows how ignorant you are, no skates available so they can’t have found lockdown hard! Got to have been one of the stupidest comments I have ever seen

Lots have gone out of business, the rest are opening with far more rules and regs to meet to be Covid secure and that includes fewer appointments to allow for cleaning in between

I suggest you take a peek at the gov.uk website that details what they have to do.

My guess is they will also prioritise their regular customers first, then any spaces could be offered out to others

And I suggest before you post anything so ignorant again you do some background checking

Appointments not skates, no idea where that came from
