You're the bad parker aren't you?

Report
DynamoKev · 19/10/2020 12:11

There's not much point in leaving notes on cars at all.

If the parker is a twat they won't care and will probably litter the car park with the note.

I can't believe someone actually felt the need to publish this story as 'news'.

Leaving notes on cars is a dickish thing in general.

OP, to save anyone else having to click on a load of pop ups asking about setting homescreen etc. Could you copy story into a post rather than the link please? Imagine you'll get more replies too.

Wow! The person writing the note must have been having a bad day!

Dear lord, have you seen the 'related article'? www.edinburghlive.co.uk/news/edinburgh-news/edinburgh-mum-shocked-after-receiving-18376653 Another "Edinburgh mum" gets a letter from her neighbours about her toddler stomping on the floor all day, and responds that children need to be free.

I think "Edinburgh mums" need to stop doing Daily Mail Sad Faces and start having consideration for other people...

In their defence, maybe someone stuck some washing into an available drier just before this parking incident....Grin

So, instead of just ignoring what is obviously a twattish note, she took a picture of it and sent it to the local paper, who in turn actually printed it.

I guess everyone has COVID fatigue so they even print this kind of drivel.

Slow news day obviously, and while some twat putting a note on someone’s car is a bit of a shit thing to do, the woman lost the high ground as soon as she went to the press.

If a person parks legally (normal parking bay, not in a disabled spot if not entitled, not in a spot not allocated to them, not actually illegally, not too close so someone can't get out or not blocking a driveway etc.) then there is no need for the note

I'm not sure why this is news. Edinburgh/Glasgow Live seem to publish anything.

This! If you're so insistent on delivering a certain message then stick to your principles and wait until the owner of the car comes back to tell them in their face what you wrote on that note. Most wouldn't dare and for good reason.

The only time that I have ever left a note on someone's car is when I had damaged their car by accident trying to leave a parking space and it was very late at night.
Wouldn't even think of leaving some judgemental shit message on a strangers car.

God, I don't know. I'm tempted daily when I have to bring my double buggy in the road because people have parked blocking the pavement when there's absolutely no need to even put two wheels on the kerb.

Is it? Why?

It depends on the intention of the note leaver surely?

Someone was parking on half of my mum’s dropped kerb every day. I check in on her nearly every day and it was a right faff trying to get out of her drive. I could never catch the twat so left a note on their windshield saying the next time they do it I’m calling the police. They left my note on the floor (bastards) but did stop the illegal parking.

Another time one of the neighbours left a note on MY windshield because I’d dared to park outside their house. They don’t have a dropped kerb.

So I think my note was fine and the neighbour’s note was twatty.

Another time I was accosted by a woman in Sainsbury’s for parking in P&C bay, I pointed out the blue badge to her and she then hid behind her husband Hmm

Ha ha! Just clicked on that link. Maybe Edinburgh Live should start trawling our very own AIBU for petty news stories.

I may be a dick but I'll continue to leave notes on the cars of idiots who block my car into my drive so I can't get to bloody work.

This reminds me of a documentary which covered the subject of those who had killed someone by punching them once. A man had decided another man had parked his car in a disabled spot without having the necessary disability (his disabled wife was in the shop, the blue badge on the vehicle). So they got into an argument, the angry guy punched the guy who was parked up and he died.

All over a parking space FFS.

@SarahAndQuack

Leaving notes on cars is a dickish thing in general.

I once left a note on a parked car with the reg number of the car I watched drive away after knocking the wing mirror off the parked car.

If that makes me a dick, so be it.

I am so confused by this article. I don’t get the whole children at home thing or the court case! And puzzled why if her mum had severe walking difficulties did she leave her baby with her? No wonder the poor dear was having a panic attack!

Report

I also left a note on a car once and the owner was very grateful! I’d accidentally dented her car and was giving her my contact details so I could pay for it.
