Have a great friend who is renound for being a bit stingy! Other than that is lovely, but it’s a bit of a running joke that she usually gets out of paying for things. If we go out for lunch she just has a drink, or maybe a starter, takes her own coffee to coffee shops etc!

Was shocked the other day when she said she’d just spent £6000 on a light! I nearly fell over!

Obvs none of my business but made me chuckle....

Being a tight arse is probably how she’s been able to pay for such shite!

Have you got a link?

I certainly wouldn’t be subbing her after that.

Can’t stand people like that. My aunt is very stingy. Will happily buy top of the range products for herself and cousins. But when it comes to gift giving or contributing she’ll want to spend the least amount.

Oh please tell me you have a link for it. We need to see this. Grin

Is it amazing?
I like people like that. As long as they are just stingy to themselves.

Let's see the light!

Is her name Fiona?!

Fiona used to come out in a group and every time she did we would all buy food to share with the table and she never paid a penny but sat and stuffed her greedy face!

She was the tightest person I used to know.

Always off on cruises - no wonder!!

'Ow much?

Feck me. I'd want it to cook dinner for that much!

Her life. Her money. Leave her alone. This woman chooses not to squander her money on things that won't exist in five minutes time and instead spend it on something she'll enjoy every single day for years and the drama police on here are saying how awful she is. Would I spend that much money on a light? No. But, equally, I wouldn't spend money on half the shite many women on here do all the time and get praised for.

Very true...

It’s embarrassing when you go for a coffee though and she says I don’t want one thanks, goes and sits down and gets her own out!

I mean I'm all for spending money on things that will bring you pleasure but fuck me a light is a light, I couldn't justify 6k on one even if I had millions in the bank.

I agree with a PP though that I wouldnt be willing to sub her anymore if she has that much money to piss away on a lamp.

I'm like this. Very frugal but then will spend big on certain stuff.

Though I am generous with gifts and presents for friends/family!

If she’s not sponging off you why bother? Everybody’s different. I scrimp and save for nearly everything but then splurge £20 on a single chocolate bar or £300 on coffee. Everybody values different things.

And yet, @FjordFiesta, she is out there, accepting drinks and eating food she didn’t pay for. Putting her friends at a disadvantage when she clearly doesn’t need to. Nobody needs or values cheap friends like this. If she doesn’t want to play fair, she should stay at home - at least that way she’s not costing other people money,

Is she going to swing from the chandelier?

@Funguy

Is she going to swing from the chandelier?

Not when it cost six fucking grand, I hope.

She’s free to do as she likes.

We absolutely need to see the light though!

Where does it say she's accepting things she didn't pay for?! OP said she goes without. She brings her own or orders less in order to avoid paying. OP hasn't said anywhere that anyone else pays for anything for her, just that she pays less for herself and receives less in return.

But @Wiredforsound, she isn't putting other people at a disadvantage. She chooses not to have a meal at lunchtime, or buy coffee, that only affects her, no-one else.
I agree with a pp some people would rather spend money on things that last for years, rather than five minutes.

I have just looked at various shops and I can't actually find a light for £6000 - not even a chandelier (This may also be the first time I have used 'sort by price: high to low' in my life). It must be some hand crafted one-of-a-kind thing?

Check out this beauty for a mere £3600 at John Lewis, though. It better be twice as nice as this.

This costs £6,584. Personally, I wouldn't give it house room.
