AIBU to remove the CF cones?

Pre-covid, we parked our car both in front of the house (blue on diagram), and down the side opposite neighbours house (who has a drive further down.) Occasionally we would get a note asking us not to. No good reason for it as we never parked close enough to the junction to obstruct the view coming out. We ignored it. Other neighbours parked their too and also had notes.

During lockdown some cones appeared (red circles). We weren't going out to work and my car battery died so sat where it was parked in front of our house and so we weren't bothered.
Now most people are back at work we are getting back to the situation on most streets whereby people park where they can get a space and sometimes that is outside our house. Not a problem, but the cones are still there which means that about 3 car spaces are out of use because one anonymous neighbour has decided to cone the area off for their convenience.
If it was the neighbours whose house is opposite the cones, I would kind of get it, but it isn't as we speak to them and they are baffled by it too.
So far, I have not needed to park there. If I do in the coming weeks, would it be unreasonable to move the ones?

Park away.

Take the cones and dump them in the river.

Does anyone ever park where the cones are now?

YANBU to move the cones. That is the worst parking diagram I have ever seen - is the blue thing your house or your car?

Don't do this, pop them in the recycling

The cones have been looking like someone has meddles with them so perhaps someone parked there but put the cones back afterwards recently.

I would move them. They are just as bad as people putting various bits of wood/bricks/stones on grass because they don't want someone parking in front of them. CF.

Park there, move the cones (do not dump in river) and carry on with life.

To previous poster complaining about the diagram... OPs first post states her house is the thing in blue! The diagram is perfectly good.

Of course ignore the cones. You can’t reserve parking spaces on a public highway, even if it is outside your house!

We have neighbours like that. My husband has seriously discussed buying a cheap old banger for £200 quid and leaving it, permanently, in a contentious place, just to wind up the neighbour who runs out shouting every time anybody dares to park outside his house. His house is on a corner and the road outside it can accommodate six cars, but woe betide anyone who tries to park there!

It's a perfectly clear diagram - the OP even says the house is marked in blue.

Steal the cones, spray them black and put them back out for Halloween.

Move the cones onto the pavement neatly and park in the space. As long as you are sure the council have not put them there. Usually there is a note explaining it if they have, though.

@BlackberrySky Definitley not council cones.

Tape a note to the cones when you move them saying that the owner is unreasonable and has no legal right to the space and this is available to anyone on a first come first served basis.

This is a parking diagram with no vehicles. That's all I'm saying :)

My neighbour over the road tried this shit. Massive 4x4 that he wanted in front of his house at all times. I moved his cones and put my car there as there was nowhere else on the road to park when I got home. He came back as I was locking up the car and gave me a mouthful. Which I swiftly returned with an additional 'fuck off'. Then left my car there for three days and reported him to the council who wrote to him. His cones haven't been seen since.

We have permit parking in our area but no bays and a loose sort of system but noone else gets the arse if they don't get 'their' space. Cones in the road are technically obstructing the highway so are actually illegal.

I would move the cones and park there if I were you OP. But I'm a bitch.

Yanbu to move the cones but nobody should be parking within 10 metres of the junction. Hard to tell if that’s within the distance from your sketch but maybe that’s why someone has put the cones there?

Move the cones. They have no right to place them there. Please update us Grin

Move the cones to the pavement & park there if you need to.

Remove the cones. Dont dump them in a river though. I'd drop them off at road with council cones on and just put them with theirs.

You can’t cone off a public parking space as if it’s your own private reserved spot! Bin the cones. CFs.
