Just that really, it's such a lot of money per month. When you think what else that money could be spent on. Can't wait til it's paid off. Anyone else feel like this?

Bored or annoyed? I used to feel like that too, especially when we were just starting out and paying nearly one of our salaries in interest alone!

Er, ok.

Frustrated I suppose and slightly bored with life as trying to be careful (not always succeeding!)

YABU. Spare a thought for those of us who have to spend as much or more on rent, and most likely will never own our own properties.Hmm

Literally don't even think about it. It's just life.

No mortgage here but bored shitless of the relentless cycle of paying bills then having no money left on 2 wages after to do anything other than scrimp all month and still end up in debt at the end of each month.

I’m the opposite - I’m glad I’m paying a mortgage payment rather than rent. I know at some point I’ll be free of payments, whereas if I were paying rent it’s just keep on going forever.

I’m always amazed though when people offhandedly mention their mortgage payment is only £600 or whatever and I always end up fantasising about what I’d do with all that extra money per month!!

But it’s not for nothing, it’s paying for a house that you’ll own once it’s paid off. Pretty good use of money really!

YABU I’d love to be paying a mortgage each month. Every payment a step closer to owning a home. Instead I’m stuck paying a ridiculous amount of money on rent.

Sorry @CremeEggThief, really insensitive cross-post of mine there. Blush

No, never been bored paying a mortgage

I'm pleased to be in the position of having my own house in a few years.

Just stop thinking about it.

If you don't want monthly payments on a house though, become homeless? That's the only way it will happen. It's mortgage or rent. Bit of a strange thing to complain about.

After renting for 12 years I love seeing my mortgage go out now every month. My house will be mine at the end of it. Count yourself lucky

Gobbycop · 24/09/2020 19:40

Yeah I guess when you borrow over a hundred grand the monthly payments are going to suck a bit.

BojoKilledMyMojo · 24/09/2020 19:40

Its swings and roundabouts really. We paid our mortgages off young (early 30s) but then put what we paid monthly on mortgages into pensions anyway!

Report
BashfulClam · 24/09/2020 19:40

If you weren’t paying that it would be rent. Agree though that can’t wait till mine is paid off.

celerystix · 24/09/2020 19:41

How much is it OP?

Our rent is £3,000 a month. Be lucky you have an asset.

I think looking at how much the tax(wo)man takes is worse.

I don’t mind rent/mortgage as much as I’m getting to live in my small but cosy home because of it.

Ok, fair enough, lucky to have a mortgage.

I find council tax more annoying.

Agreed. Our mortgage payments feel huge but I know we are lucky to be paying for our own house.

Yeah, the security of owning your own home is really dull.

What a weird, and quite insensitive, post.
