Hi all

So my friend Was texting the other day & really wanted to watch a documentary that’s only available on Netflix. I offered my log in details so she could watch it.
Now found out via texting back n forth that she’s been on it every night since, it doesn’t stop me watching it but I just thinking how cheeky! When I only offered it her to watch 1 thing.

AIBU?

By the way I know there’s more pressing things going on in life just wanted another opinion.

Change the password - she’ll be locked out

Why’s it bother you

You can log her out by signing in to your account on the website and selecting the relevant “log me out of all devices” option.

Then change your password.

I honestly wouldn’t care, like you said it doesn’t stop you watching it and she’s not being sneaky about it so I don’t see the issue.

Just change your password. If she asks why say you can’t both watch it at the same time and it’s not fair to you as you are paying and couldn’t watch something when you wanted to.

Did you make that clear? What does it matter ... but change your details if it bothers you.

Report
NancyBotwinBloom · 16/09/2020 21:45

Does it prevent you watching it?

Is there another underlying issue? Does she not get her round in etc

Log out all the devices and change your password if it bothers you.

Say a family member wants to use it and you can only be logged in on a certain number of devices

I only pay the minimum so only 1 person can watch at a time.downgrade it will tell you who's watching if you try to watch it then you can tell her to get off and say how annoying it is.

Does it not give you a warm glow knowing you are doing a nice thing op?

Definitely cheeky. You should change your password monthly anyways though. Hacked accounts are rife. Hackers sell on your details for a couple of quid.

Mixed opinions then.

That’s why I asked, not sure if I should think it’s cheeky or not. Maybe it’s because if it was the other way round I would have watched the one thing then if I wanted to continue I would have asked if it was ok too, I just thought it was manners 🤷‍♀️

It is. People just love to come on these threads and be contrary for shits and giggles.

Haha. I gave my friend my Netflix log in and my Now TV log in without thought. She's my friend and makes zero odds to me. If I was logged in to someone's Netflix I probably use it too! It was only the other day I realised my TV is still logged in to my mum's ex husbands prime but I have it so it slipped my mind!

One friend hops on my Netflix every so often. She has her own profile so it doesn’t skew my recommended items.

My mum and my other friends kids use my
Disney+

Can only have so may logged on at any one time but as the bill later I get to kick people off of I can’t get on.

Your a great friend.

I like getting my money’s worth so I currently share my Netflix log in with others, with strict instructions they are not to give it out. I also love gifting and I’m pleased others can get benefit out of it.

I think this is really cheeky! It doesn’t harm you directly but if loads of people did this then Netflix subscribers would go down and the subscription costs would go up. (or content would get worse).

Bluntness100 · 16/09/2020 21:50

I do t get the issue, it doesn’t cost you any more and it doesn’t stop you using it. It’s really petty op. I can’t imagine giving a shit about this.

She took more than was offered. Not OK.

Change password, log out other devices.

Grant access again only if she asks nicely to share, offers something in return (half your monthly fee would be reasonable) and, of course, only if you feel like it.

So rude of her to expect to use it without offering you any money.

I have it on multiple devices and theres me and my son who watch it but we never watch it at same time. So when my 2 sisters login and use it it diesnt let us watch it. You must be paying more for multiple screens at once

Yep, cheeky. No manners. If it’s just you get the lowest subscription mentioned above, tell her you renewed it as you can only watch one thing at a time.
