Constant doom mongering on the news..... constant fear of school bubble closures.... stress of getting available test if need one...feel like nothing to actually look forward too.... the list goes on....

I suppose I just want to have a moan..... it all just seems to be going on and on with no end in sight again....

Yes me. So fed up now.
Schools open. Pubs open. Cinemas open.
But I’m worrying about whether the kids can go to the park after school with the kids they have been in a classroom with all day. Because it’s more then 6 people 😕

I agree.
I don't care about myself it's my adult kids I'm worried about..the 16-24 age group. Its a hellish time for them

Yanbu. They need to drop it now, just let us live our lives.

I am actually finding the return of "normal life" stressful.
Everything seems busy and crowded and noisy.
With the added stress of the virus.
Have stopped watching the news!

You are absolutely not the only one. I actually came on here to look for a funny thread to read to take my mind off it all. I am generally a really lucky person who manages to push through things when they're bad and doesn't really let things get to me but flipping heck this is like the perfect storm of cock-up after cock-up and I'm starting to feel really negatively about the future.

YANBU I feel exactly the same. In a constant state of heightened anxiety at how much worse things are going to get and what could go wrong. Not sure how long we have left until everyone has nervous breakdowns.

I totally get it. It's actually suffocating the amount of negativity. Everywhere you turn, it's just either COVID or Trump. The only things that I find that work are... just to turn off the tv, radio, get off social media. Reading, or listening to audiobooks, music, getting outdoors/fresh air as much as possible, just going back to basics. Whenever I get to see my friends we just discuss happy subjects. I'm not saying ignore the problems, because we're going to be like this for quite some time yet but, blocking out so much of the negativity & finding a distraction definitely helps.

I was doing fine and then DD got sent home to self isolate after a staff member working with her bubble at school tested positive.

DH not allowed into work for a fortnight because of their office rules, so is in a grump. DD is devastated at missing her friends after only being back for a week. DS is still at school so I’m trying to keep things normal for him.

I’m just fucking done with it. I’m the one trying to keep spirits high and everyone positive. But I barely have time to work, life is just joyless and relentless and this is going to be how things are now right the way through winter. I just want a hug from my parents but I can’t even do that because I daren’t risk infecting them.

Sorry. I didn’t mean to join your moan but I’m just so sick of everything. This week feels worse than ‘proper’ lockdown. I’ll get over it, but not today :/

YANBU. It’s so tough. Feels like we are all neither here or there and are on a precipice with the risk of things getting really bad again. But the limbo is just as bad. I’ve got friends and family emotionally pressurising us to bend the rules too and I’m finding it stressful.

Yes, totally get it. DD just started school and after lockdown and long summer holiday and meticulous planning for play dates etc to give her some time with other kids I just want this to be normal for her and all the kids now.

YANBU. I want to hug my friends. I want to make plans. I want to look forward to Christmas. I’m feeling chippy and grumpy tonight. I want to stamp my feet, go to bed early and wake up to it all being over. I miss before. So there.

I actually miss the early lockdown days in March. I feel like we were all in the same boat so less divided. Now it’s almost like Brexit fallout all over again with people being so hostile to one another and turning against family/friends etc if they stick to the rules strictly or they don’t. And it’s still out there.

My mental health is getting really badly affected with it now and I’m thinking of keeping the news off and avoiding MN for a while too. I just did a Christian Philosophy Zoom course for the first time tonight and it was SO nice to not discuss the pandemic and look deeper into the genuine “big life” questions and look into my actual self and ask “who am I really?” “Why am I here?” etc which I feel I’d lost touch with in this Covid bubble. I think I’m going to focus on this kind of thing from now on and avoid all the doom and gloom.

Yes. A young guy in Coventry on the news who lost his job due to Covid & has no money to go see his kids , crying, just finished me off tonight. I grew up not far from Cov & it just really upset me & I blubbed for a good half hour. At least he got food vouchers & a phone to search for work off the Job Shop. A young guy with a family who had a decent job shouldn't be in that situation. Horrible

It will end, but not not just yet. Stop watching the news, take some time out for yourself if you can. I ordered some cheap jigsaw puzzles from the works and am really enjoying them. You need to detach

I get that its crap but just deciding that you don't want to have to worry or alter your behaviour in anyway isn't going to make the virus go away. If we all just stop all measures then hospitals will fill up and many people will die or be left with long term issues. Obviously it will be a small proportion those infected who will die but if a large percentage of us do get infected then that number will be high.

I am feeling very Covid fatigued at the moment so you're not being unreasonable.

I am going to peoples homes and it's stressful wondering if they are going to end up with Covid and blame me. Stressed that I'll end up with symptoms and those that I visit will end up having to self isolate due to me just doing my job.

My husband is a postie and said only today that there are some that are being very negative toward him.

The children are full of cold after being at school for only a week. If a cold can spread this easy with all the measures schools have taken it shows how quick Covid can spread in classrooms

I don’t think anyone is saying they won’t comply. But it does help to do all you can in terms of the rules (I’m still practically Shielding) and then switch off and focus on other things to keep you sane rather than constantly watching the news and indulging in constant Covid conversations or arguments. There’s only so much we can control. Doing jigsaws or online courses or baking etc isn’t going to make the pandemic worse but it might just help us come out the other side with our sanity in tact.
