To be apprehensive about this toilet situation

I work in a college environment I went back today after building works have gone on to find this situation.
The toilets have had the wall removed which separates it from the corridor. As you walk down the corridor you can see the cubicals and sinks (I've attached a drawing in true mumsnet fashion!). It says the toilets are female only but yet everyone can see in? The cubicals are not floor to ceiling so you could I imagine see people's feet as you walk towards it.
I don't care about sharing toilets as I've always been in a unisex toilet environment but to not have a separate 'room' with the toilets in but rather being where everyone can see is horrifying me. Surely this isn't right?

Surely not pleasant for the toiletee or anyone walking past, I wouldn't like that at all!

Does that mean that you could see into the end cubicle from the hallway if you looked under the door? Or held a camera or a mirror under it

That's horrendous! I wouldn't have thought that would even be allowed, surely you have to have a door between the toilets and the work space.
What happens if someone has a curry the night before? If theres a gap then someone could potentially drop something while walking by and get an eyefull. I'd complain.

They've taken out perfectly nice toilets (the best ones that were there IMO) to replace with this. As you walk up the corridor you can see them on full display. From a distance I imagine you could see feet quite easily not to mention you could hear all that was going on!
We are only allowed in one part of the building at the moment and I didn't venture downstairs to look to see if anything had happened to the men's loos

I hope they have not got urinals in the men's! I thought if the toilets were unisex (and I assume the corridor is for anyone to use) the cubicles had to be floor to ceiling and have the sink enclosed in them?

They've done this at my DC school. It means the kids can't loiter/ mess about in the loos.

Do you share with the pupils? At the school all the adults have a different set of facilities.

@DownToTheSeaAgain where it is located used to be the staff toilets but I'm presuming it has been changed - there's no staff sign anymore so presume it's open

My immediate concern would be safeguarding. If there are doors to cubicles that are not floor to ceiling, then how is privacy protected? What prevents someone from using their phone under the door?

I've seen this in quite a few high schools - agreed it's to stop kids messing around in toilets. I know that doesn't help you, and I wouldn't be happy with it either.

Our schools have this for all the toilets, stops bullying/messing about/bunking etc

Staff have their own toilets though.

Would this be acceptable in a workplace? Not imo, we have unisex lavs, but they have full height walls (proper walls, not just partitions) the basins and sanpro bins are inside and they have (not very effective, admittedly) extractor fans in the ones that don't have windows.

If it's not acceptable for adults at work, why is is acceptable for nearly-adults at school.

This is the basis for many of my nightmares although in those the doors usually fall off or won't lock as well

I couldn't use, I'd get stage fright. Perhaps that's the idea.

I never thought much about ours and those one are much closer to my classroom than the staff ones so I always used them!

@TimeTruthandHearts I'm the same as you. I always have picked the quietest loos and always gone when I know it's going to be quiet. I don't think I could use them

My worst nightmare. No privacy or dignity in that set up at all. And (sorry to be blunt) but what about the smell?!?

Ewe. I'd not be at all happy with that! Not a terrible idea to have the sinks in view to prevent loitering etc, but what if you're on your period and get blood on your hands? Anyone could be hanging about.
Doors should definitely be floor to ceiling for privacy.
