AIBU?

Colleagues who have come back after being furloughed doing as little as possible.

For clarification I was not furloughed and worked through having suspected coronovirus (my choice). It has taken me a long while to feel anything close to normal but wanted to do as much as I could to help my boss out during a difficult time. A lot of staff were furloughed and are only now starting to come back. The thing is, even though they don't do the same job as me they are doing the very bare minimum and it is so frustrating. They seem to be doing less than they were before and nothing is being said. They are meant to fill up the stationary so that it is available just to lift when needed - they are now just dumping it in a cupboard and you have to fight your way through a pile of boxes to find what you need and then open it and sort it out. I am getting really pissed off. Oh and they were chatting most of the day and they aren't even trying to hide it. Do some people have no work ethic at all? Really pissing me off.

Why were you at work if you thought you had the virus?

No some people do not have a work ethic.

In places of work, all over the country, there are people who stepped up and helped and people who used the situation as an excuse to shirk.

Their line managers need to insist that they are doing their jobs properly but you can be sure that it's been noted by everyone and it will come back to haunt them next time they apply for promotion or similar.

Tell your line manager and ask them to sort it out

I doubt your colleagues would track you for working if you thought you had Covid.

Going to work with suspected Covid doesn't make you a good worker, it actually makes you an idiot.

On the separate issue of your colleagues, speak to your manager.

What part of self isolation do you not understand.

This. Two separate issues.

People continuing to be around others with suspected coronavirus hasn't exactly helped the length of the crisis has it?

Another perspective.... I have been back at work for 2 weeks after being furloughed for 4 months and I can't believe how difficult it is to get back in to it. I was previously very driven and motivated but am really struggling and get distracted easily. We are due to go back into the office 2 days a week soon and I'm hoping that will make the difference and 'feel' more like work IYSWIM.

Are you a manager? If not you should mind your own business really

You sound like a proper martyr!

I do think you're a bit jealous that they were furloughed and you were not.

@comfey. Totally get where you are coming from. Very very irritating to put it mildly. Other then speaking to your LM (goof luck with that!) you will just have to ignore it and accept, that whilst you have a work ethic, very few people do as well.
Furlough does seem to have brought out the worst in a lot of people and they seem to want to continue being paid a wage for zero work.

I think you working with covid is more of an issue than a messy stationery cupboard

I'm really hoping you didn't actually go into work when you thought you had COVID.
As for your colleagues, YANBU, but I imagine it's really hard to get back into the swing of things when you haven't worked for nearly 5 months. Hopefully they'll settle back into it soon.

Crawling up your bosses arse and going into work with Coronavirus doesn’t make you an indispensable hero. It makes you a sad idiot.

Surely you were working from home at the time you suspected you had covid? Please come back and drip feed that in.

I would second what @PolaDeVeboise said.

I too was INCREDIBLY committed to my job, menial though it is. I have really struggled to find that commitment again since lockdown. So have most of my colleagues, who are quitting in droves. Lockdown has been extremely damaging, in so many unexpected ways.

It would be a disciplinary matter if where I work if you turned up to work with suspected Covid-19.

My employer has clearly stated if any of us have suspected Covid-19, we are to get tested and self isolate pending test results.

Our workplace was deep cleaned when we had employees with Coronavirus.

Is it possible you feel resentful of the fact they were furloughed and are now scrutinising them with a heavier hand that you would’ve before?

And as others have unsaid I hope you didn’t continue to work in an office with potential Covid?

If you went to work, or indeed left your house at all with suspected coronavirus then you are an awful human being.

I nodded along with this - resentment that they were furloughed.

Agree with you OP I have been in the office through lockdown and now my collegues are all coming back but they chat soooo much. Really disturbs me. They are obviously enjoying seeing each other but I got stuff to do.
