AIBU?

To think that it's really hard for someone over 35 to bake?

I just can't seem to cover my eye bags? See pic.

I've tried putting foundation on but not by my eyes, then using concealer around the dark bits but it always goes crepey and then adding loose powder on top of that basically equals crusty eye area. I love watching MUA stuff and they seem to do it no problem but I look terrible.

I honestly thought this was going to be a thread about people over 35 no longer being able to rustle up a cake 😆 I’m afraid I’ve got no advice OP except to say that from the small bit of under eye I can see... what eye bags??

I thought you were going to say you were peri menopausal and finding it too hot to bake 😂

I also want to know what 'bake' is in terms of make-up, not cakes 😁

Baking looks shit in real life. Robert Welsh is an ace YouTube MUA who has great advice on how to do makeup for real life

Really? , I can still manage the odd fairy cake and I'm way older than that.

I am 35 and follow all his advice!

This. Even on a teenager baking in real life looks fucking terrible outside the bright lights of their YouTube filming. He has changed my attitude to make up.

Less is more. A good moisturiser, spf and a few dots of concealer and I look 100x better than I did with foundation, concealer, powder etc.

Also fwiw you have no bags at all.

Try using flour and butter instead of concealer and foundation?

I don't know what to say either except for Touche Eclait?

Yep. I thought it was about perimenopausal brain fog leading to overbaked sponge.

But yeah, I agree you can't bake a crepey eye well.

Me too. I was wondering what would suddenly happen in the next 6 weeks that would mean my cakes would suddenly be shit Grin

Baking in make up terms is basically packing on as much translucent powder under the eyes to “set” the foundation / concealer etc. It was originally used in drag stage make up so it’s no wonder it looks so shit in real life, it’s never going to look right in natural lights

Ha ha sorry people, it's when you put concealer on and then loads of loose powder to set it and then after about 10 minutes you dust it off and apparently it's supposed to give you a ceaseless under eye. My problem is the minute I put concealer under my eye it goes all crepey and weird so when I powder it looks horrible (I know Ross and 'it's a paste' comes to mind).

I wish I could bake cakes too but my oven is too dirty.

Firstly I have never heard of this and genuinely thought this was gonna be about actual baking 😂

Secondly Any kind of caked on makeup looks pretty shit under normal light at any age

Thirdly . What eye bags ?!

I am so glad I don't wear make up. I've only just got to grips with the lingo I need for work, I don't need to have to learn ANOTHER language.

I also didn't know what a glow-up was until recently.

Can we have a thread about cakes now please?

@HaggisTheGreat you win the internet today Grin

I thought it was going to be because you don't have the time to fit it in ( baking ) Grin
