To ask if Royal Mail still do this?

I ordered a little gift for my aunty yesterday and as I won’t see her for a few weeks, I wanted it to go straight to her home. I couldn’t change the delivery address on Amazon do in the end left it - it will be coming here. Can you still readdress things and just pop them in the post, without any further charge? AIBU to ask? 😀

I very much doubt they would send it on for free. You have paid for postage to you only not onward postage.

Why couldn't you change the delivery address on Amazon? I always do this, in fact I have a list of about 15 people on mine.

You can't even expect them to send a letter to the correct address first class within about 2 weeks these days so I doubt they would do anything extra

I really don’t know why I couldn’t change the address - it kept on giving me the option then asking me to put in my payment details again.
I’m sure that Royal Mail used to do this.

Only time I've seen that is if you are forwarding mail to a previous occupant.

For next time if you add a new address it wants you to put the payment details in for security purposes

No, you’ve never been able to do this.

And amazon will let you have multiple addresses so you should have been able to change it.

I’ve had notification of a letter for me to collect at my local Royal Mail post sorting office in the past and that had been because the sender hasn’t used adequate postage. I think if you send the parcel on the person you’re sending on to will have to pay your postage fee upon collection.

You can cross out an address on a letter and write forward to xxx and repost, and royal mail deliver it for free. I doubt they do that for packages though. I've used this service a lot so not sure why people seem to think they've never done it 🤔

But Amazon don't even use royal mail..

Also if Amazon haven’t sent the item yet you could send them a message or the seller a message about changing the delivery address.

Amazon asked me to confirm my details 5/6 times before I gave up.
You definitely used to be able to send things on, if incorrectly addressed, without paying extra. Not quite the same situation, though.

You need to put your payment details in again as a fraud prevention thing so someone can’t just hack your account, add a random address and get lots of stuff sent there.

I'd also suggest getting in touch with Amazon/The seller to see if you can change it

Royal Mail will deliver it for you - but you'll have to pay!!! It's not and has never been a free service.

If you add a new address on Amazon you always have to reconfirm your payment details. It means if someone hacks your account they can't order a load of stuff and have it shipped to them.

Of course You used to be able to do this. Back in the day when I was at uni, or when I was first working and living away from home, my mum was always sending on letters to me that had been posted to my parents' address. You just crossed out the first address and wrote the second one next to it with 'please forward to' written above. I have also forwarded stuff to my children at uni, or forwarded letters that came to previous occupants of the houses I have lived in, if they left a forwarding address.

I don't know that I would risk a parcel from Amazon though. Could you ring (ha ha!) The Royal Mail to ask if they would forward it?

Can you cancel the order and reorder it to your aunties, alternatively go on live chat with amazon, once you’ve got passed the robot they are normally pretty good. They may be able to amend the address?

I didnt think amazon used RM for deliveries. I'm sure that they use their own couriers.
