AIBU?

The conspiracy theory - pizzagate

Mama05 · 28/06/2020 20:14

I have seen a few bits online regarding the pizza gate conspiracy and that several celebs have come forward to say it is True.

Aibu to think if it were true that society would never find out about it as surely there would be mass rioting and chaos etc as those in power have been committing the most evil acts?

What are you talking about?

Do you mean that nonsense started by Trumpies in the run-up to the previous US election, about the basement of a pizza place?

It doesn't have a basement.

Did your celebs not mention that little fact?

BTW, if you find this stuff popping up in front of you, you might want to think about spring-cleaning your cookies, and maybe also your "friends".

Someone's feeding you giant turds and hoping you'll mistake them for chocolate cake.

en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pizzagate_conspiracy_theory

It took me five seconds to find out this was a debunked theory from ages ago. Less time than it would have taken for you to write the post.

That's what they want you to think, Wikipedia is part of the global cabal mind washing the plebs. That's why the government gets airlines to spray the population with chemtrails

I mean those in power are committing some pretty evil acts. But those aren't Pizzagate.

Think its time mumsnet acted over this endless right wing conspiracy nonsense being faux naively posted.

Hang on don’t bite my head off, my post never said I believed it , nor am I asking for proof it is true or untrue... I’m interested in people’s opinions and just simply if something as horrific was going on then society would never find out surely?

Of course pizzagate is true, just like the Earth is flat and ruled by Zionist reptiles. Hmm

Am I the only one bitterly disappointed this isn't actually a thread about pizza?

Not going to lie thought this was about the game conspiracy theory and there was something up about the pizzas 😳

Just watch some videos out there - some people are just barking. Wasn’t there a thing about a well known us cookie brand that was pumped full of drugs to ‘poison our kids’ and had KKK on the labels (back old Hilary again - she’s a busy woman). I watched the woman in this video like 😲😲😲🙉🙈🙉

Not this bollocks. Not a shred of evidence to support any of it, and it reads like really bad amateur fiction.

It needs starving of oxygen along with all the other bullshit conspiracy theories - we don’t need more oh-so-naive “I don’t actually believe it, I’m just sharing it out of interest” posts.

The sad thing is that these bonkers there’s can be easily checked out - is there a sex dungeon in the basement of the pizza store? No.
Is it even remotely likely to have a grain of truth? Hell no.
Where did you hear about this? A friend of a friend of my cousins hairdressers neighbours second cousin posted it on twitter. 🙄

The thing about conspiracies is, you help propagate them by starting threads with that sort of title – because you get people talking about them regardless of whether that includes debunking.

This is not just an untrue, it's dangerous and has caused an attack by a gunman, plus other harassment. Real people have suffered because of it.

If you want to discuss the horror of child sexual abuse, maybe start a thread about real cases? Or obviously fictional portrayals?

Not harmful conspiracy theories.

NB It's the US election season again, so this shit is going to be lighting up people's feeds from now till November.

BTW, OP, I'm doing you the kindness of assuming you're posting in good faith, and have just been fed some shit by Facebook.

Obviously that might not be the case.

Come on OP, at least try and stir up a more up-to-date conspiracy theory by posting a ridiculous question asking people go imagine something that is not true is true

People don’t believe it because the term conspiracy has been used to discredit any information that isn’t on the mainstream media. People need to have critical thinking skills to see past that. And they also need to want to learn, not bury their heads in he sand. It’s extremely naive to believe everything we are spoon fed and disregard anything else. Jimmy saville, for example, people were trying to talk about his behaviour long before he died and they were ignored or blacklisted, the bbc must have been aware of his activities as it was a ‘well known secret’ among so many. Jimmy was just the tip of the iceberg. People need to take their blinkers off

It's just far right conspiracy bullshit that was started by white supremacists, propagated by people like Alex Jones, spread by bots and ended up with a nutjob trying to shoot up a pizza resteraunt.

And if you aren't trying to stir up something deliberately and this is a genuine issue you are concerned about, I would suggest you either aren't old enough or capable enough to be allowed unfettered internet access without proper supervision
