Why are womens pyjama shorts so short?

I hate it! I want to be able to have a nice bath at the weekend, get into my pjs and curl up on the sofa with a book. Only I cant as every pair of pyjama shorts I can find are so bloody short that when I curl my legs, EVERYTHING is on display, also I feel I'm constantly having to rearrange them or rescue them from getting wedgied.
I'm fed up of having to put different bottoms on or drape a blanket/cardi over my legs to save my teen ds' blushes.
I've tried going up a size but that makes it worse as they are then really baggy.
3/4 length are just not the same, I want shorts.

Mens shorts are longer... I'm currently browsing online and am considering buying some, but I'd like some nice pretty/funky patterned ones. Does anyone else have this issue? Can anyone point me in the direction of some decent length womens PJ shorts..... or some nice patterned mens ones?

Come on manufacturers/designers, is it too much to ask for some womens PJ shorts that are of a decent enough length that I can relax in the evenings without showing my teenage boys what I had for breakfast, and that don't try to cut me in half when I turn over in bed!

Because we’re supposed to be size 8 sexpots at all times. Didn’t you know?

We are there for the male gaze, that’s why.

Maybe you should get this moved to the Feminist Chat board, because that’s where the answers are.

For the same reason that girls shorts and pants are cut high on the leg and boys shorts are longer and more practical!

They are also really low cut, and terribly short from crotch to waist and, so they cut me in half. Horribly uncomfortable. I’ve chopped off and hemmed regular PJ trousers when I can find them in a high enough waist, to make PJ shorts.

I have the same problem, i dont like too short so i just buy long trousers and cut to size.

Same reason boy shoes are made for playing and girls school shoes made to be pretty.

M &S have some reasonable length pyjama shorts at the moment .

I get MIL to bring me back pjs/house clothes from the Philippines when she goes - knee length shorts and floaty tops in bright colours. They are great, much better than my other summer pjs that are pretty much hot pants.

I've just bought some from M&S, will let you know.

Me Undies has some stuff that might work. I wear their underwear and it's very comfortable. I'm wearing a pair with elephants on it right now.

Because you are supposed to be curled up on the chaise longue enticingly in them. Not 'reading a book' good God woman!

I buy mens pj shorts, they come to about halfway between my knees and mid thigh and medium fit quite nicely.

FourPlasticRings Sat 27-Jun-20 20:49:10

They are short. But I find the wedgie problem can happen regardless of how long the trousers are. I don't wear PJ bottoms to bed because of it.

Could you wear pants under the pyjama bottoms until it's actually bed time?

dudsville Sat 27-Jun-20 20:50:10

Don't buy the shorts!

These aren't sexy but i buy pjs that go to my knees. Very comfy, no wedgy, modesty maintained.

lyralalala Sat 27-Jun-20 20:50:35

I bought some cheap 3/4 ones from Asda and cut them. Even shorts that have a decent length have such baggy legs that staying decent is impossible

SouthernComforts Sat 27-Jun-20 20:52:33

Yep I only buy men's jersey shorts to sleep in now. Long, comfy and pockets!!

NoddingTulip Sat 27-Jun-20 20:55:17

It's so bloody annoying that it's just excepted of us to put up with it and that manufacturers expect us to look like sex symbols at all times.
I just want to be comfy. Hate the fact the shorts are short in the leg as well as the waist to crotch rato making it feel like I'm being cut in half.
Don't get me stated on little girls clothes being inappropriate. I have B/G twins and the difference is stark, especially when they get out of the toddler sizessad

I wear mens ones which ds(18) has outgrown. Nice and comfy

Oysterbabe Sat 27-Jun-20 20:58:11

Yanbu. They are so annoying.

Destroyedpeople Sat 27-Jun-20 20:58:58

Oh I had b/g twins too ..the difference was startling. Also by about the age of 7 little boys saying if they thought what shoes a girl was wearing were 'pretty' or not. Not my son obvs.

totallyyesno Sat 27-Jun-20 21:00:50

I have b/g twins too! I agree, it really makes you notice the difference between b and g clothes.

lyralalala Sat 27-Jun-20 21:03:20

Ds is 2 years older than my girls and the difference between his hand-me-downs and girls clothing was stark.

Ishihtzuknot Sat 27-Jun-20 21:04:09

I almost thought you were my neighbour posting about me in the garden in my tiny shorts blush
Avoid primark shorts they’re just like maternity knickers with a blade attached to the arse section unless you buy 5 sizes bigger
