Has anyone tried hypnosis as a treatment? Does it work?
I have a problem with sensitivity to noise and I’m wondering if there’s a way to trick my mind into not caring about it.
For context, I absolutely love where we live now. The house and location are beautiful, it’s perfect in so many ways, but we live fairly close to a section of motorway that’s on a flyover and the vibration makes it noisy when the wind comes from that direction.
My partner doesn’t even notice it, and it’s certainly not loud enough to hear over even quiet conversation etc, so really not particularly intrusive. There’s just something about it that i find stressful and oppressive - it cuts through all the other louder sounds for me (birds, dogs barking etc). Maybe it’s the pitch of some of the frequencies - I can hear very quiet, high pitched noises that other people often can’t.
I want to be able to ignore it and I wonder about hypnosis. Thing is, does hypnosis work if you’re not suggestible? I’m a very sceptical person.
Anyone here tried it? What for and did it work?
