AIBU?

To think this is the most dangerous parenting

Went to B&Q tonight- it was still scorching. I pulled into the car park to find a car parked with all its windows open and a lovely little girl asleep in the back seat. She was around 2-3 years old. Seriously who would do that after poor little Madeline. A man then exits the store with a little boy of around 6 and loads his shopping. AIBU to think this is the pits. I’m so cross about story after story on here about men shirking responsibly- yet another example- clearly couldn’t be arsed with a misbehaving freshly weakened little in so decided to place her in peril instead

Had I seen that I would have called the police on my mobile. She could have been snatched in an instant. Here he would have been charged with a crime.

Thats really bad but women do this too. Did you say anything or report to the police.

Didn’t report it as he exited the store with shopping as we arrived.

That would really upset me and I would have stayed by her till either police or pqrent arrived. Easy to say that though. Perhaps you can call 101 for advice if you want it followed up. There will be cctv.

You can’t take 2 children into B&Q

I'm not sure what's worse windows down or windows up. I suppose it's something nobody should ever have to think about because of course you take the child in with you.

I had to leave both kids outside a small rural shop in a nearby village a few weeks back as they weren’t allowed in and I needed to buy milk and bread. It was hot and the windows we’re down. It’s a nightmare for parents at the moment.

I see it hasn't taken us long to come back around from "just leave your children outside the shop DON'T YOU KNOW THERE'S A PANDEMIC ON" to "OMG CALL THE POLICE".

‘You can’t take 2 children into B&Q’

And that’s a valid justification? Hmm

Report
Bowerbird5 · 23/06/2020 21:52

So you don’t go! For goodness sake you should never leave a young child in the car like that. Didn’t you say anything to him OP?

Oh well that makes it alright then Hmm

Why can't you take 2 children in? Sounds like Sophie's choice pick your favourite and leave the other one on their own!

FTMF30 · 23/06/2020 21:57

@katienana Or don't go in? Confused

SixyearoldSicknote · 23/06/2020 21:58

@Oliversmumsarmy what has that got to do with the price of fish?

An adult that is responsible for a child’s welfare left them unattended in a hot car. Under no circumstances would this ever be acceptable.

OP, in hindsight you should have taken the registration details of the vehicle and reported them. However I don’t blame you for not taking down the details. Such acts of stupidity send you into shock.

I agree but I also know security guards are telling parents to leave their children in the car and blocking entrance to shops until they do or they leave. The whole thing is ridiculous.

We have the benefit of hindsight but now I have read this, if I ever see something like this I would take a picture of child in car, film the exit whilst waiting for the parent to come out of the store, the registration and then film the resulting altercation of me telling him about himself and then report to the police, maybe.

How do you live your life so terrified of everything?

Everyone knows Madeleine McCann's name because her disappearance was so unusual.

This child's dad made a choice and nothing bad happened.

People stealing babies from cars isn't a major risk in life. The most dangerous person around was you it seems.

😂 Yup I knew it would happen soon. There was literally people telling a woman to leave her 8 year old in charge of her 3 year old in the house, while she went for a shopping about 2 months ago!
