Is out of date cous cous ok to eat?

Just making lunch and realised the cous cous went out of date April 2020 - so only been two months.

The pack has been open for a while. What do you think?

Google seems to say it's ok.

It's lunch for me, DH and 2 year old toddler.

Thanks in advance!

Dried couscous will be fine for absolutely ages!

I just finished a pack from March 2020 for lunch. I've been using it over the last week and have been fine Smile

I wouldn’t even check the date

It’ll be fine and will taste a little of rancid if not.

Dried cous cous will be fine for a couple of years if stored properly

Dried cous cous definitely fine, one of those ready made cous cous salads not so much.

Our couscous we had for dinner on Sunday was BBE Aug 2019, we're all alive to tell the tale.

I ate some that was over 2 years out of date last week and I’m fine!

Yeah, it'll be fine. It's just a grain isn't it?

But use your common sense, if it looks funny or smells funny, chuck it.

It’s not a grain, it’s more akin to pasta.
It is, however, dried, so unlikely to have any problems with being a bit out of dats.

Thanks all. We didn't have the cous cous in the end 😱

I forgot to mention I'm almost 39 weeks pregnant and DH made the point that even though there is probably no risk he doesn't want anyone with a dickie tummy in the house.
