AIBU?

Fat people hate summer? *light hearted*

I'm currently fat, by at least 3st, I have always been overweight by about a stone but the last 3 years am just fat, self inflicted as eat too much crap.

My friend and I were chatting today and I said I'm really not looking forward to this heatwave as I hate summer at the best of times, her reply was "well your overweight so of course you'll hate summer"

She has a point as carrying extra weight isn't great in the heat, but my point was I've ALWAYS disliked summer.

My wedding was in October as hated the idea of sweating in my dress (was quite slim when married), i don't go on holiday to really hot counties or will go out of season to avoid peak heat, hate etc etc

AIBU to assume slim people can dislike summer too? Friend was adamant it's my weight and couldn't get her head round the fact I just don't like summer / hot weather.

With friends like that who needs enemies? Of course slim people can not like hayfever, wasps, sweaty commutes, sunburn etc

Yes I know thin people that hate summer but tbh I think being fat in summer is so difficult. I’ve been fat and slim- ish (though I didn’t think it) over the years, fact is being bigger requires a lot more work to look nice. Good make up, blow dried hair, structure clothes- none on this lends itself to hot sweaty days. Summer clothes show every pound. I often think if I got really slim how easy my mornings would be, Plenty or choice to just throw something on.

I watched an old edition of Room 101 on Dave earlier. Claudia Winkleman was one of the guests and she wanted to put summer into Room 101.

@SerenDippitty never a fan of Claudia but she should be knighted!

Yep, I bloody hate it and I’m a size 10 (which is considered slim apparently)

She sounds charming. Friends like that I could do without
I'm not a fan of summer once it goes over 23 degrees. Not thin (anymore) either but have never been a fan.
Celtic complexion, heatstroke easily, gets redder and redder when exercising and can't seem to sweat. Clothes are all pale and wrinkle easily. Mosquitos and gnats - allergic to both. Trains are smelly and airless, the list goes on.
Love a crisp Autumn day when the leaves are turning and it's a light jacket sort of day.

I’m not fat and I get very grumpy when it’s only about 22 degrees. The prospect of 31 here on Thursday has made me very annoyed. Hate it. Humidity is horribly high too. Yeurgh.

My 13 yo DD hates summer and the heat and she's about 6 stone!

Well I'm fat and I love summer. I'd love it more if I didn't have to contend with chub rub, sweaty boobs and body image issues, but it's still my favourite time of year.
I can't cope with being cold and get all gloomy in winter.
Your friend talks shite, I'm afraid.

Well I'm obese and I LOVE summer. I loathe the winter

I used to be very thin. Hated summer. I'm now rather fat. Hate summer. My brain turns even more to mush in the heat.

I'm a healthy weight but deathly pale and hate summer! The constant suncream application, scouting for shade and having a hat welded to my head annoys me. I wilt very quickly in the heat and can be very irritable with it. I also have no idea how to dress and hate having much skin on show as it just risks burning and people gawking at me for being "soooooo pale". I spend the whole season waiting patiently to return to my docs and knits.

To the self declared fat lady - you seem to take this in a refreshingly light heated way!

Being fat would be less comfortable in the heat if compared to a slimmer body (as you were before) as your body is working much harder to carry the extra weight.

Why not try to mix up the heat near water to get a more agreeable balance? Beach, lake, river etc or just a forest setting with lots of shade?

Slim people can dislike heat too but would that same formerly slim person carrying extra weight hate heat more? Probably would as you have expressed yourself.

Bit of a circular point but enjoy the heat and don’t worry about your size.

Thanks all for replies! I'm not bothered about what to wear due to my lovely array of tent like dresses, however I may decide to refuse to work, cook, clean or hold any rational, intelligent conversations until said heat wave has passed.

Also got a bee sting on my foot yesterday (bloody sandals)!

No matter what size I've been during the summer raging from a 12-20 I've always looked / felt harassed, sweaty and slightly deranged.

I'm fat (size 20) but I hate summer because after just 15 mins in the sun with factor 50 slathered I begin to burn.

I've lost a fair bit of weight since last summer (3+ stones and 2 full dress sizes) and I'm not any less prone to burning...

I’m fat and I love summer. I get my linen out, maxi dresses and flip flops and have a great time.

Friends aren’t supposed to be horrible, btw. She doesn’t sound nice.

I hated summer at a size 28 and at a size 12.

Here is a list of ppl who will be joining this club this year

Anyone wearing a face mask on the bus with no air conditioning

Anyone wearing a face mask on the Tube with no air conditioning

Anyone wearing a face mask in the hairdressers with no air conditioning.

Anyone who gets heat stroke because of the above.

Anyone who knows someone who dies of heat stroke due to the above.

DD and I are very slender, DH average. We all hate being hot.
We live in Colorado. During the summer, you bake in the dry heat.
DS - also very slender - loves it!!! Confused

I'm a fatty and I love the summer, but I hate summer clothes because there is nothing I feel comfortable in except big black sacks, and they are not comfortable in the heat! I dream of the day I can finally succeed at a diet and release the bikini ready body, but know it's unlikely to ever happen. If I was body confident id love summer

I have always hated summer whatever weight I have been. I get terrible hayfever, it causes my RA to flare, I get heat rashes and headaches. I have always loved dark nights and crisp autumn days. My biggest issue though has always been the humidity

I love summer, I’m overweight.

However I hate high humidity, so U.K. summers (especially on the west side of the country) are not usually my cup of tea. Cambridge in June, gorgeous. Manchester in August, not so much.
