To think this dolly could be limited edition?

A while back I bought a lovely little mermaid dolly for my dear (yet adult Grin) daughter for her university studies. Grin
I recently found her while clearing through her old bedroom. I've searched the name on the label and I can't find her anywhere, however there seems to be newer versions of the doll (without woolly hair) for sale.
Would you all think she's special? She's a very lovely mermaid, thats for sure Smile

Unfortunately something is only worth what someone is willing to pay for it.

I could see why they changed the hair, children generally want to put mermaid toys in water.

To be honest I think dolls are better with woolly hair. Gives them a more old look Smile

These are sold in Greece quite a lot. My DD has two that she got on holiday a couple of years ago. She is a lovely mermaid though.

Do you remember where you bought her from? A small, upscale boutique, it might have some value.
But if it came from, I don't know, 'The Works'. Probably not.

That being said, she doesn't look anything particularly special and the tag looks fairly low-quality. (high end stuff ends to have really luxurious tags, that are fully sown onto the doll, not left hanging like that).

TOTALLY missing the point but what on earth use is a mermaid doll to an adult going to university?? Confused I just cannot get my head around that one!

Was your daughter studying textiles?
Or maybe a Literature student and this was a fun allusion to The Tempest?
I’m sure if it was a limited edition, it would have been advertised as such on the packaging when you bought it. It’s just a doll - what would make it “special” would be the reason you bought it, and the memories from it. Things aren’t special because some marketing team sticks an extra label on them!
