Concerts and festivals

Maybe i am just old, but we are watching a dvd of a massive concert.
Made me think that its so unlikely that anyone would want to be that close to others for ages.
Surely even the most laid back person would not want to be in a massive crouc like that.
Do you think people will be happy to go to things like glastonbury, download and so on?

Just watching the Iron Maiden film from 2009 on Sky Arts and it is disconcerting! Seeing people packed in together is unimaginable despite the fact my last gig was only on 13th March.

I wouldn't mind outdoor festivals as much but indoor gigs seem a long way off. I am a bit more cavalier than DH who has anxiety and is saying he doesn't think he will ever do it again.

We should be seeing Green Day next Saturday but it’s been put back until June 2021, and while I know it’s a year away I’m already wondering if it’ll be sensible by then to be in such a crowded situation.

Have you seen about the drive in concerts?

You only have to look at the number of people going into the shops last week, or the beaches / parks when it was hot at the end of May, to realise how desperate people are to get back to "normal" life. I think people will go as soon as it is allowed. They will assume it 'being allowed' means it will be fine.

The one we are watching is the Rolling Stones at hyde park, the audience is massive.
I hope we go back to it.
My ds main income is from gigs.

DH also gets a lot of his income from gigs and we think it’s going to be a long way off. He is very lucky that he also has some WFH he can do.

Even if they cut the 2m rule, I just don’t see how it can work in a way that’s worthwhile. Feel very sad and worried about it all.

I can't wait to go to gigs!

I think festivals, concerts and large sporting events will be the last things to come back just because of the amount of people. Unless they only allow half capacity and hold them outside.

At this point, I imagine if the industry is persuasive enough to the Government then it could happen within months.

I’d go to a festival today if it was on.

Lankylemon im hoping that ds will be able to expand his work base.
Bands will still need promo shots and. Ideos hopefully.
Will be so sad if a lot of small venues end up closing though.

I'm watching the Maiden programme too, and it does seem weird. But then I booked tickets this week to see Rammstein next year, and dh is contemplating hotels for Download 21, so we're hopeful!

We've just booked tickets for one of the drive in concerts that has been released.... don't think I'd want to be any closer than that!

I'd go tomorrow. Live music is the top thing that I'm missing.

if gigs were allowed tomorrow, and say someone like take that done a concert tomorrow it would be sold out

DS is gutted as he was meant to be going to his first festival this summer - Reading. He's holding on to the tickets in the hope it'll be on next year 🤞🏻

Was due to go to a festival this year but delayed now until next year but am thinking I might ask for money back as can’t see me wanting to use the toilets apart from anything else.

I love gigs and my social life has revolved around them for years, but I won't be going to any for the foreseeable, even if they do start coming back. I can't imagine being that close to people again. It's such a shame, and I think a lot of venues will close which means when we can go there won't be the places to go Sad

I work in events so I've had no work since march (in events currently doing other security work) and even as a worker I am wary of them coming back. Hopefully they will all start again next year when the virus is basically gone. This has been a very strange and upsetting year for me so far and I do want to get back to normal but I also want it to be extremely safe to do so.

I'd be happy to go to one. I'm not scared of coronavirus.

I bet loads of people would still go, especially young people. There was an illegal rave held in Manchester the other week.

I had several booked for this year all but Elton John in November have been postponed until next year, expecting the EJ postponement email sometime soon. Hopefully we will be able to go next year but they are all indoors in large arenas so the last things to come back I expect. I am looking forward to hopefully them going ahead next year though

People will definitely go again. Look at the mass protests, Trump rally and rugby matches back on in New Zealand.
