Kids Party

My ds10 has been invited to a party. The mum has said it will be outside due to social distancing There will be 5 children. My ds is separate to see friends. At times he has struggled during lockdown. But, After saying yes I have seen pictures on social media of the mum not social distancing with people round, in the garden mainly but more than 6 and not social distancing. Do I stop my son going because I can’t trust her to keep them apart, isolating him (and me) further (they all chat online) or send him as it will do him good mentally? More of a WWYD. Would you let him go.

I would let mine go.

When is the party? Is it scheduled for the next couple of weeks?

I'll be really honest, I'd personally send my kids to a party. But I'd also send my kids to school if they were in year R/1 - my husband and I have had the coronavirus and therefore have some antibodies so I wouldn't be too worried about any of the other kids or adults being infected by us or vice versa!

But it all depends on your circumstances. Bear in mind it is very hard for young children to stick to social distancing rules, especially at a party.

Assume they won't socially distance then decide can you take the risk? If taking every other precaution and not vulnerable I may be tempted if big benefit to ds.

If not say he feels unwell if concerned about upsetting them.

Yes I would send him. Don't worry.

If you, him and your household have no health issues I would let him go.

I’d let mine go and not think twice about it.

I would let him go (unless anyone in the house is shielding)

It depends how your child is affected by all this
I would let mine go but that's based on how my child is

I would send him! Will do his mental health the world of good seeing his mates!

i'd send him. primary age kids are very low risk and should be back at school, so a party in a garden is fine.

I'd send my dc.

Children are more at risk of not playing. It is a basic need.

I would send him. He won’t be with the adults but with his friends. Would love to see his face when he can hug his mates ☺️

If your home has nobody at risk he should go.

Yep I'd send him still ( unless you are shielding and then I'd obviously be more cautious)

If no one is shielding I'd take the risk and send him

I would let him go unless you have a really good reason to be extra cautious? The government is sending kids back to school, your kid will be fine outside with a few others.

I was in the same situation and didn’t, it’s up to you if you feel uncomfortable don’t be pressured into it. People treating others as silly because they have reached a different conclusion on this is really annoying me at the moment!

If you are happy and think your kid needs it then let them go.

Assume that there will be no social distancing. But Id let them go unless there was a reason to be extra careful.

Thank you for the reassurance. No one shielding here so he is going. He is sooo excited. The mum will probably need ear defenders!! Grin
