To be concerned about breast pain

I'm wondering if anybody has any experience of this. I had a mammogram last Thursday. Followed by an ultrasound and biopsy in one breast. Got the results yesterday and everything fine.
However my other breast (the one that didn't have the biopsy) has suddenly become really sore. It started suddenly yesterday evening. To me it feels hot and sore and tender. I have googled to see if this is something that can happen after a mammogram and it doesn't seem to be the case. I took paracetamol and codeine last night and thought it would be gone by this morning but it was worse. I phoned the hospital where I'd had the mammogram and she said she wouldn't be worried advised warm bath, ibuprofen rub and ibuprofen tablets. So I've done that. She said wait a few days and if it gets worse go to gp as it could be breast infection. She said it's completely unrelated the last week's mammogram.
I find this difficult to believe. The mammogram was very tight as it was a repeat and I just feel there must have been some tissue damage or something.
My symptoms show up as mastitis on Google which apparently can occur when not breastfeeding which I'm not and haven't for 5 years!
Does it sound like anything any of note you have experienced and would you think it was caused by the mammogram 5 days previous?

Just to add it's so painful I find it hard to walk or do normal household tasks

It's even painful and difficult to rub on the ibuprofen gel

It's not something I've experienced but after your mammogram last week there's probably some residual tenderness in your breast tissue - it could explain it away but I would take the advice and see your GP if it's still there in a day or two. Flowers

Mammograms do squeeze tightly for a few seconds. They shouldn’t cause ongoing pain. They don’t have significant side effects.

See your GP.

It was only 5 days after the mammogram the pain (and I think swelling) started.

Yes, I've had similar pain. Lasted about 6 months and has now (fingers crossed) gone. It was so painful and really got me down. Lumps in various places and hot, sore and tender and it happened on both sides during this time. It did seem to be like mastitis but not feeding.

I was taking agnus castus for PMS but I had cut down on tablets because my PMS had gone. I started taking it again and after a few months back to normal. I put it down to that.

The sore one is definitely swollen. I'm lying down and the sore one is way bigger. So swollen, very painful and a bit hot. Does it sound like something that will go on its own if I leave it like the nurse said or should I go to gp tomorrow? I suppose I'm worried it's some sort of infection that will spread. I sound a bit like a hypochondriac I know. Also I don't even know if my gp is even seeing patients!

I don't know - mine was over christmas and I didn't want to use an emergency gp appointment so booked an appointment online for a week later and the heat and pain had gone by then so I cancelled the appointment.

If you are worried see your GP in a few days.

Definitely speak to your gp for reassurance. My breasts do similar things. If they are left alone they are ok, but if they are squeezed or examined etc I feel similar to you.

I went to my gp this evening and I have a very large abscess! I'm on antibiotics, anti inflammatories and pain killers. He has sent an urgent referral to the breast clinic.
Very strange since my breast was fine in the mammogram last Thursday.
