I posted a week or so ago about our NDN and their new puppy.
Basically, 3 weeks ago they got a puppy. She is 10 weeks old this week. They go to work and leave her for at least 5 hours at a time (this appears to be getting longer).
The puppy barks virtually non stop and seems so distressed. She has started to howl as well as bark now.
One of them works shifts and one works part time but their hours seem to have been increased and they are leaving her longer.
This morning, so far she has barked virtually non stop since they left at 7am.
As a dog owner myself (the puppy sets off my own dog!) and an animal lover I find this is really stressful to hear.
The ndn think I am over reacting and basically said she will eventually settle down! Even when they are at home they will often ‘pop’ out for a few hours at a time leaving her to bark constantly.
I’ve contacted the RSPCA, they (as I predicted) were of little help, basically as long as the dog is feed, watered, sheltered and not abused (they are very loving to her when at home as I’ve witnessed them playing with her in the garden) in anyway there is little they can do. They said the barking can fall under the Environmental Protection Act 1990.
There is very little that I can do is there? Other than go slightly crazy with the constant sound of her distress!?
