To be sick of my kids tonight

It's gone 10. My kids are still awake. Ds is asking to watch a film (no way) and saying in a really arsey voice 'oh you get to watch TV do you?'. The 4 year old has clamped his whole body around my phone so I can't get it back without injuring myself. I'm so fucking sick of this now......

I should say they've been entertained all day. Campfire in the garden and burgers for lunch, helping assemble a new trampoline, a bike ride to the beach for the eldest to see his best friend. I just feel so ground down by it all and trying to work at the same time. I'm broken right now.

It's hard just now isn't it.

Sorry if this is a really stupid question but can you not put them to bed? It sounds like they've been active today so should hopefully go to sleep.

Whatever age they are they should be in bed right now. Tell them you need some quiet time and they should be in their rooms.

They whine and moan and get out of bed. This has happened gradually over lockdown. They have had so many nights they won't go to sleep until it gets darkish. Ds 8 has become really cheeky to me. Thankfully I asked dp and he has taken over as I was feeling the rage coming on.

It's late! What are the consequences if they don't stay in their rooms? Ours are getting more screen time than usual at the moment, so that can always be taken away if they misbehave. Could you try that?

I remember those days so well, i'd do anything to be in your shoes. My DS passed away a few months ago and the house feels empty now days.
I hope the little darlings settle soon and you can relax before bed

Could it be they are over tired? My dc are a nightmare when they are tired and have had too much screen time.

Same here OP. Mine (9 & 11) have only just gone to sleep after coming down the stairs 5673 each (drink, wee, another drink, turn lights on etc etc). They've had loads of exercise but are not mentally exhausted (yes, they have been doing school work).

I'm at home with them on my own 24/7 at the moment as I am furloughed. The loss of my two hour evening alone time is keenly felt.

Yes @NamedyChangedy I should develop some consequences. I'm just so knackered discipline isn't working very well.

I’m sorry if this is a stupid question, but what time do they get up in the morning?
In lockdown, mine fancy going to bed at 10ish and getting up at 8ish.
I do not fancy this one bit as I want to watch something of my own choosing in peace at 9pm!
So I haul everyone up in the morning by 7.30am. I know it sounds mean when there is no school to get up for, but I am honestly better during the day with them if I get a little evening time.

Snap! Tonight they are both over tired and got a 2nd wind. A million excuses to get out of bed and none to stay in.

@likeafishneedsabike my oldest doesn't need much sleep and wakes before me at about half 7. My youngest has been sleeping in and I haven't been waking him up. I will have to start I think.

I’m feeling it too, absolutely adore my 3 but i just feel so robotic right now. I feel so deflated which is often followed with guilt as we are healthy and safe. I miss our life before lockdown, failing with the homeschooling as quite frankly I’m bored of it!
