Not one word of a fucking lie, I'm stood in my garden and I hear

"Daily Mail's just said Boris is going to give a £15 voucher for free school meal kids. I'm well happy, thats my Friday night drinks sorted"

Excuse my language, but I am fucking livid.

And you know for certain it wasn't a joke do you?
*If it even was said.

tiredanddangerous Tue 16-Jun-20 14:55:47

I don’t know how the vouchers work but surely they can’t be exchanged for alcohol?

Yorkshiremummyof1 Tue 16-Jun-20 14:56:21

I said it was a joke, there were hardehars at the end of it
*it was said

I don't think they can be, it just flared my temper a little bit. Like, I don't really know why I can't pinpoint it

Ahhhh OP, go and have a cuppa and a biscuit, and have a think about getting a hobby.

LemonadeAndDaisyChains Tue 16-Jun-20 15:00:12

biscuit

Nighttimefreedom Tue 16-Jun-20 15:01:32

Is it so bad of they don't have to spend their last pennies on children's food and now have some left for leisure?
Or is state help only acceptable if theres literally not a pot to piss in?

growinggreyer Tue 16-Jun-20 15:01:44

Well, that's nothing. I was just standing in my garden and I heard people on furlough having an actual chat and laughing in the sunshine. Dreadful. (I was one of them.)

Soubriquet Tue 16-Jun-20 15:02:22

Yeah you’re being OTT

It has nothing to Dow it’s safeguarding and all to do with him being a twat

GertrudeCB Tue 16-Jun-20 15:03:01

Livid ? Really ? Why ?

LonginesPrime Tue 16-Jun-20 15:03:18

Daily Mail's just said Boris is going to give a £15 voucher for free school meal kids

I wouldn't worry, OP - they clearly don't have DC on FSM otherwise they wouldn't have misunderstood the headline.

AllTheWhoresOfMalta Tue 16-Jun-20 15:03:23

Yeah, awful. Because if you’re poor you aren’t allowed to drink alcohol or make jokes.

SharpieInThe Tue 16-Jun-20 15:05:16

I caught my neighbours laughing last week, reported to the scroungers squad at the dwp. Dicusting.

SadSisters Tue 16-Jun-20 15:05:48

I really don’t think it’s something to be so angry or upset about. Jokes are often used to be subversive. It doesn’t mean they aren’t actually looking after their children properly.

WorraLiberty Tue 16-Jun-20 15:08:17

This is literally what the word 'Meh' was made up for.

Confused124 Tue 16-Jun-20 15:09:08

So you are mad at what is really an inoffensive joke ?

Smitemedamnsmaug Tue 16-Jun-20 15:09:37

Bugger, didn't think I'd be overheard! Is that you at no. 96, Barbara? shock

AKissAndASmile Tue 16-Jun-20 15:10:04

LOVE this reply. Especially the bit where you were standing grin

Dyrne Tue 16-Jun-20 15:10:42

I don’t see it as any worse than the “hilarious” jokes about locking children in bedrooms and drinking gin you see from all the mummy bloggers

borntohula Tue 16-Jun-20 15:11:25

Jesus Christ, not everyone has the same sense of humour. Is this thread a bad joke?

Buckingham1988 Tue 16-Jun-20 15:11:45

It states you can't buy tobacco and alcohol on them however they'll probably spend the vouchers on food and then the money they were going to spend on food use for alcohol instead of making sure their kids get the nutrition they need.
My parents ndn has spent hers on new clothes for her not the children. Which made me cross. I can assure you mine go on food for the dc and have been very useful however I feel there is a lot of room for misuse.

borntohula Tue 16-Jun-20 15:12:04

@Smitemedamnsmaug grin

Smitemedamnsmaug Tue 16-Jun-20 15:15:56

I've used mine for alcohol and never been questioned. Mind you, it was Aldi... 😁
