To cut the grass?

What time is acceptable to cut the grass on a Tuesday morning? It's due to rain here from 9.30am for about a week and it could really do with doing before then 🤔

Unless your garden is massive and will take you ages, I'd say 8.45/9.00.

Thanks both, it's a front garden, takes all of 5 minutes! I wouldn't actually usually bother but the house looks so scruffy when it's long and we can't afford to have it paved like we plan to yet

Interesting about the paving @Nanny0gg - I only want it paved because I hate cutting the grass and it makes the house look messy.... but I could probably live with it!

The furloughed can't expect the whole world to stop just because they're not having to get up for work.
And if 9am is the expected start time for outdoor work on houses, I wish someone would tell next door's builders. They start at 7am every day and, on one memorable weekend, 6am!

I don’t think you should worry about people having a lie in. I don’t usually get up until 8:30 on a weekday but wouldn’t care if someone started mowing at 8. I care more when my neighbours choose to do it at 8:30pm because I’m trying to get DD to sleep.

I would say 9am. Building work is allowed to start at 8am, so I think that’s really reasonable.

8am is a completely acceptable time to start any work in the week
It makes not a jot of difference if people are on furlough

8am on a week day, 9am on a weekend. Round here, builders are allowed to start at 7am (and regularly do) or 8 on a Saturday so that is an hour after that!

thank you all - I thought it was just me who didn't understand the furlough thing.... my partner is on furlough and he didn't think 8:30/9 was too early!

Will leave it until 9, although someone in the next bit of the cul-de-sac is already using an electric saw of some description
