Churchill removed from Google

But they've left Hitler, Stalin, Mussolini.

If you Google "British prime ministers" you'll get them all, along with images but Churchill's photo has been replaced with a holder (they've also forgotten his first term).

Google world war two leaders and Churchill's picture is still gone, but Hitler et al. are still up.

AIBU to think this is nuts?

That is bizarre!?

AlwaysCheddar Sun 14-Jun-20 07:23:16

It’s disgraceful.

GnomeOrMistAndIceGuy Sun 14-Jun-20 07:24:33

Hang on, those dates are all wrong too!

ElizabethMainwaring Sun 14-Jun-20 07:25:53

It doesn't mention his 40-45 term either.

sunlightflower Sun 14-Jun-20 07:26:06

That is absolutely insane.

SpillTheTeaa Sun 14-Jun-20 07:26:14

Don't worry OP they will probably stop teaching history about him as well.

FrowningFlamingo Sun 14-Jun-20 07:27:14

Google have said on Twitter that they didn’t do it and it means the original image has been moved and updated and that a new one will automatically appear soon

theonlywayisapple Sun 14-Jun-20 07:27:50

Disgraceful. Can’t wait to hear the reason.

KaronAVyrus Sun 14-Jun-20 07:28:22

Just googled it and you’re completely right. I think, globally, we need to start having conversations about how much power these massive tech companies have. They’re not elected but twitter/Facebook/google have seriously interfered in democratic processes all over the world. They are huge monopolies and need to be broken up into far smaller companies.

TheEmpressMatilda Sun 14-Jun-20 07:29:13

It’s a bug, Google didn’t “censor” anything. FFS doesn’t anyone have any technical knowledge?

Bluemoooon Sun 14-Jun-20 07:29:30

If you want British people to stand up for themselves and not support BLM this is the way to do it.

theonlywayisapple Sun 14-Jun-20 07:32:32

After everything that’s been happening, you honestly think it’s a bug? Bit of a coincidence it’s that picture, don’t you think?

user8558 Sun 14-Jun-20 07:34:43

How do you know it's a bug?

GlendaSugarbeanIsJudgingYou Sun 14-Jun-20 07:34:57

How about people wait for an explanation before blaming BLM?

malmi Sun 14-Jun-20 07:35:51

This is a thread for people who argue with sat navs.

user1471565182 Sun 14-Jun-20 07:35:59

Give me strength this is getting pathetic. Conservative paranoia needs dealing with.

GlendaSugarbeanIsJudgingYou Sun 14-Jun-20 07:36:19

Malmi grin

😂😂😂 I'm going to use that response all the time now

SiaPR Sun 14-Jun-20 07:44:00

Try googling "women killed 2020" or "2019". The first page shows bepenised people who have been killed rather than women.

BashStreetKid Sun 14-Jun-20 07:44:21

Hang on, those dates are all wrong too!

No, they just seem to put the second term of office in generally when PMs have to separate terms. They've done the same for Harold Wilson.

BashStreetKid Sun 14-Jun-20 07:45:17

two, not to

pigeon999 Sun 14-Jun-20 07:49:02

Well then if it is a bug we can expect for it to be fixed pronto.

pigeon999 Sun 14-Jun-20 07:50:36

malmi my sat nav is shit, and is always making mistakes and I am constantly shouting at it when I end up stranded in the back and beyond, does that count? grin

stellabelle Sun 14-Jun-20 07:55:08

Good heavens, they'll be burning books soon.
