Wibu to go to urgent care with piles? Poss tmi.

I was woken up early hours of Friday morning in pain. Several ginormous piles had erupted, they are the worst I've ever had, and SO painful. Since then they've got worse, the biggest is the size of a Brazil nut, and they hurt worse. I constantly feel like I need the loo, and every half hour or so, have to "go and see " if I actually need to do anything cos I can't tell properly. There's some blood, not a lot. I haven't slept, can barely walk, can't sit or stand comfortably, and am just bloody miserable. I don't think I can go like this til Monday on the off chance of a gp appointment.
Would the walk in centre be able to help?.

Absolutely, don’t hesitate. They can give you something with anaestheticto apply and also check your haemorrhoid is not Sounds nasty you poor thing

I suffer with these a lot- best thing I have found is Proctosedyl ointment- it is a steroid cream with hydrocortisone and lidocaine (a local anaesthetic), you can only use for 7 days but it's great- takes about 48 hours to work- you need to get it from GP though. You could see if the walk in centre will prescribe that? You can get a less strong version over the counter- it's Anusol HC (hydrocortisone) which may work for you if not too bad.

Other thing that helps is ice!! Frozen peas in a food bag!

Absolutely go. But Pharmacy might be a good first port of call? Just go in and ask them what they can give you.

I would go to the chemist first, there’s usually one open late somewhere.
It sounds like you might need suppositories and cream.
If it happens frequently you might need to see your GP re: treatment.
It might be worth keeping some in for possible future eruptions too.
I feel for you as they’re so itchy and painful.

Anusol works great. Also a bath in Epsom salts. I would go to the pharmacist or out of hours if really painful.

Sympathies Op. Also recommend Anusol, and if skin is unbroken, apply a cotton pad soaked in witch hazel which has been kept in the fridge. It takes the heat out, but will sting on broken skin

There’s a cream called scheriproct (?) that I was prescribed once. It sorted mine back down to a manageable level. I was also prescribed something which I can’t remember the name of which had anaesthetic in it to numb the throbbing.

You have my full sympathy. Been there and it’s awful! Definitely go.
I genuinely had to sit on an ice pole (repeatedly) after the birth of dc4. Not pleasant.

Scheriproct is extremely effective on serious piles that over the counter stuff does not deal with. Prescription only. Go to urgent care and ask if they will prescribe it. Ointment and suppositories available.

How strange. My best friend had to be seen today due to severe bleeding in that area. Turns out haemorrhoids have started bleeding whenever any pressure is there. She was absolutely told she was right to have gone (wasn’t aware it was haemorrhoids) and that serious pain/ bleeding in that area is to be checked.
It’s not wasting time, it needs dealing with and the pain you’re in, you can’t and shouldn’t wait.

You poor love 😔 please go and get seen, I really hope they can help relieve your discomfort. Once the severity of them has calmed down my mum swears by bathing in Epsom salts, as a previous poster suggested, and she has had them fairly bad before.

@Questioningeverything Obviously if someone has severe unexplained anal bleeding/pain and doesn't have a history of/know they have piles, that's different.

I ended up having to call the 111 helpline a few weeks ago on a Saturday night because of piles. They got an out of hours doctor to call me back who prescribed suspostories as I was also very constipated and told me before using them I needed to shrink them with ice whick worked well and really helped relieve the pain. You definitely have my sympathy op . It's the kind of ailment people don't really take seriously untill they've had them and they can be really debilitating .

I went to the walk in at urgent care, they referred me to the surgical assessment unit in the big hospital at North Tees, and off I went.
They assessed and said that ordinarily they would have admitted me and done one of various procedures to fix me, but cos of covid they gave me the choice of being admitted or not. I am back home with painkillers, laxatives, and numbing gel, and if they haven't "subsided" in a week I have to go back and will need to be admitted

The cherry on top? It's (or was since its now after midnight) my 50th birthday...
I am now wallowing in blessed relief, with t the good painkillers and gel though.

Tea tree oil works great on piles. I dab some on a cotton pad hold it against the piles for a few minutes. And repeat throughout the day. I hope you get some relief with what you’ve been given.

I never took them seriously until 6 weeks ago.

2 weeks postpartum (second baby), I experienced my first one. There was only one and was the size of a pea and the pain was horrific!

I was so incredibly miserable, I didn’t know what to do with myself.

You have may utmost sympathy and I hope you feel better soon.

You must get them seen. I had the same problem with pain, doc however, said it was "just piles". During the night, I was in such agony that I took myself to A&E, and turns out it was an abscess. Not nice.

You have my sympathy, they are the most excruciating pain. I ended up on our local surgical assessment unit a few years ago and they said they would send me an appointment for follow up but never did and I never chased it up as I was so disgusted with the care. I do still have problems and ongoing pain but haven't had an attack as bad as that one since so I just keep rumbling along with them . I hope you feel better soon.

Oh I hope they work. Absolutely awful. I had a thrombosis one when pg and has to go home in the end as I was crying with pain and hopping around. The relief when it burst finally.
