Hopefully, they desperately need the income and social distancing lends itself well to zoos and wildlife parks etc.

I’m hoping we can get a a lot to go. We’re members and have missed it. It would be nice to have a little bit of ‘normal’ between work and school

I wonder if they'll be able to make up some income with more people being able to go during the week due to the kids not being in school?

I'm really looking forward to going. I've been gently encouraged to take 2 weeks annual leave at the end of July so I'm hoping by then the zoo near me will be open and the initial rush will have calmed down.

Yep booked the safari park, looking forward to it! The risks at a zoo are lower than at a supermarket I reckon so I say go for it

Dublin zoo is open. They have a one way trail that everyone has to follow and tickets are bought in advance. It's sold out for June and July.

Are you agreeing or disagreeing with it OP?

@Mauhea
Just remember they will be social-distancing and you will probably have to book on-line. Might be worth checking their website out now rather than be disappointed.

I’m taking DS to Chessington Zoo next week - I can’t wait. We were supposed to be going to Norway tomorrow! Obviously that’s not happening but I still have to take the week off work so I want to still make it feel like a good week’s holiday by doing a few trips.

@NotEverythingIsBlackandWhite
Already all over it Grin! The one near me is proposing booking a timed arrival slot online and there'll be a one way system in place. Things like the reptile house and nocturnal area will be closed but there'll be more than enough to see to make up for it.

@gabsdot45 Dublin zoo isn't sold out for June. My daughter booked for this afternoon only yesterday. I'd say its a lot safer there though than in Penneys judging by the videos I've seen!

Of course. The virus doesn't seem to transmit easily out doors, zoos need income, and people are looking forward to getting a bit more of their lives back

@Kitcat47
On their website it states:
"NHS staff can now go FREE on Safari, one ticket per valid NHS ID. Book your free time-slot online and bring a valid NHS ID card."
That's very nice of them.

I don't know if this has been in response to their asking or whether those asking have heard about a discount but just aren't sure what it is.

Knowsley Safari Park is fab, if I still lived nearby I'd be trying to get tickets. We're members of a wildlife park near to where we live now, we'll probably leave it a few weeks and try to go early July.
My children are back in school two days a week now so we have a bit of normality returning.

I would like to, although it will be quite different, no inside areas and our zoo has quite a lot of inside areas, as well as having to follow a route around which will probably miss out quite a lot of the other "off the beaten track" animals. There is an online reservation system so even if you have a pass as we do you need to reserve a time slot, so it will not be crowded - I think there will be a great deal of demand though so we may not get a slot for a while.

My local zoo isn't opening.

Shame really. I could do with a change of scenery and they do loads of conversation stuff.

I might go to the zoo.

I'm not in the UK and our local zoo opened a few weeks ago, we're members so went the first chance we could.

Sadly they've put out a public appeal this morning as they're on the brink (they operate a world wide conservation operation too, the zoo itself is only the 'shop front') so I've decided to buy an animal encounter for my DP's upcoming birthday to try and support them a bit more.

Someone told me it's all happening at the zoo
I do believe it, I do believe it's true...

We are members of Whipsnade, been trying to book for last two days website is a bit crazy!

I have also paid to adopt two animals for my children at the zoo we would have visited during half term. They are really struggling as on a small island relying on tourism which is zero.

Yep hoping to book Howletts for my husbands birthday. I can’t wait for an actual day out other than the local park.
