AIBU?

To think cuddle & kind is a bit wanky?

I keep seeing them on social media:

uk.cuddleandkind.com/

Their cheapest dolls are some 50-60 quid, and they say for every doll they donate 10 meals to kids in need. According to feedingamerica, 10 meals cost exactly.... a dollar. Not a huge part of their profits, is it? OK, the dolls are handmade, fair trade, and I am sure they're quite nice. But in their advertising everywhere they make it seem like buying their products is akin to giving to charity. Whereas you could also buy your DC a stuffed toy at Boots, donate your remaining 55 quid directly and provide 690 meals to hungry kids.

Agreed. Expecting my first and an advert popped up on social media so I looked at their page. They're obviously cute, but I laughed my head off when I saw the price.

Must have seen their ad at least a dozen times in the past month - some super aggressive campaigning happening there. Congrats on your pregnancy!

Seems like not too many people are bothered by them, though. Grin

Meh I bought one for my DD and my niece. They are nice dolls, they come with a wee poster, they do good, they are fairtrade which is important to me. My daughter plays with hers like any other doll. I've never used it as a badge of honour or to somehow get myself credit so I'm not sure it's exactly wanky. More than you'd like to spend on a toy, fine. I was happy enough 🤷🏻‍♀️
