So I watched it a couple of days ago with DP, it came up as a trailer and I thought it almost sounded like a storyline from a book - lo and behold it is and there's 2 more books apparently.
I've noticed its trending at #1 in multiple countries.
Anyway we watched it having no clue what to expect and had very mixed feelings about it.

On one hand fuck me that relationship was toxic! Stockholm syndrome anyone? The scene in the hotel where all that happens without her consent gave me the absolute creeps. The whole plot is BS.

On the flip side the Scenery is gorgeous and the actors are VERY easy to look at.
Massimo is cast so well like I could just sit there and watch him get of that airplane and fix his suit on a loop Grin AND the actor who plays him sings some of the songs and I think has a great husky voice. He's freakin hot!

So my opinion is its an ok film if you don't take the plot seriously and just enjoy a bit of escapism and watching gorgeous people Massimo , in gorgeous locations getting it on in a rather believable fashion.

What did everyone else think?

Ive watched half (then family came home!)

Im really struggling with the male focus and the non consent...

BUT if I tell myself its basically a porn film (!) designed to be sexy I do find it quite um alluring. And I like watching them both...

And then struggle with my ideology as I dont want porn due to non consent and focus on the male experience etc....

I watched it OP, and yes it was a guilty pleasure despite the often cringe dialogue. Grin Massimo is the type of guy you would run away from him in real life but he’s crazy hot on screen.

Just read up on it, it’s based on a series of mafia romance books by a Polish writer. So whilst the film ends on a cliffhanger there may be a sequel.

I’ve read a few mafia romances and the premise of the book isn’t particularly original but it certainly captured people’s imaginations.

I understand the books are being called the Polish 50 Shades of Grey, although I’ve not read either series.

Massimo is cast so well like I could just sit there and watch him get of that airplane and fix his suit on a loop Grin

Omg yes and and when and the airplane when she’s confined to her seat. His smirk 🤤

It's so cringe, but he is so handsome - I can't decide if I loved it or hated it Grin

I watched it last night. I was struggling to separate the romanticism with ‘this is seriously fucked up’ sentiment. Though it definitely is fucked up! So perhaps quite well designed in that respect. Didn’t like any of the characters fundamentally though.

Yes, to all the above. A porno with a very sexy cast. Scenery is gorgeous. Massimo is absolutely gorgeous. Ending was simultaneously surprising and not. Really intrigued about there being more to this though.

It's very cringey but I still enjoyed it! Here's hoping they make the next 2 books into films.

Personally I think it's absolutely vile. Forced coercive relationships, the poor woman was bloody kidnapped and kept captive and a side of Stockholm syndrome resulting in gratuitous sex which is very arguably just criminal in nature. Total misogynistic and offensive nonsense that perpetuates very damaging ideas of 'love' and romanticized abuse from men.

Sad that people are so willing to overlook that because they get excited about anything on TV with sex scenes in it. It's like people have never heard of porn (just as bad) or can't just have sex themselves.

If you think its romantic or sexy to be kidnapped off the street by a criminal and experience trauma or that men are alright to do that as long as it works out alright for them because they are 'hot' that just can't be right can it. Confused. I'm up for watching trash and do but we really should pay attention to what we are watching and what it perpetuates and how it aligns with what we say we believe right and wrong is.

dontgobaconmyheart, agree with you, it was utterly vile. The messages behind it were deeply disturbing.

My friend watched it and like it. But I haven’t read 50 shades nor seen the films so I doubt this will take my fancyz

There will be plenty of people who say it romanticises violence/Stockholm syndrome etc etc but it’s basically a harmless soft porn film with very good looking protagonists.
Plot is a bit weak but the acting is excellent.

It’s quite clearly not real life, it’s a film.
Us women are quite capable of separating fact from fiction.

The thing is I've never seen porn with a man that I find attractive in it, let alone anyway like Massimo. 😆

I would have liked the sex to have more balance on Laura taking the lead, her pleasure & less neck grabbing but maybe in the sequels.
